*What's the smoothes opening production folder?

I love my Sebenza. But Benchmade's axis lock folders are slick. A touch on the thumb stud opens them as fast as an auto, and quietly, too. Hold back the lock and move your wrist, and the blade closes without a sound.

Among many BM products, model 42 (and 43, 47 also) is the smoothest in terms of less friction. As it has no pressure on to the blade by locking mechanism, zero or minimum friction between blade and handle.

Axis lock or Rolling lock systems come close. You can pull locking pin of Axic lock, or you can pull locking lever of Rolling lock to smooth out all the friction. Liner lock will not allow such kind of trick, neither do frame locks.

In spite of my love for balisongs, I love to feel the well precised tooling on folding knife mechanism that gives an "adequate" friction into the knife.

Aside from the above, I'd also offer the Al Mar Sere 2000. Very smooth.

Referring to the folders I own, the Microtech SOCOM Elite model has the frictionless opening mechanism. Soft as silk and not even the suggestion of blade play.

Liner locks take the cake, with no competition unless it's an Axis with the lock bar disengaged (pulled to the rear).
AFCK is the smoothest I've experienced, with the Military running a close second (course I've only handled a few of each).

I love my EDC Sebenza, my Spyderco Military and Calypso and my MT LCC, but the smoothest opening knife I have used is actually the CRKT Kasper, like butter, followed by the CRKT Pointguard, opens like greased silk.

Original Spyderco Peter Herbst (440C w/titanium handle version) is the smoothest opening knife I own. (Not to be confused with the "updated" ATS-54 [55?] aluminum handled version). My collection includes Sebenzas, axis locks, MicroTechs, and numerous Spydercos. The Herbst opens with a "snick" as opposed to the others that open with a "click." Nonetheless, I guess this is a subjective comment and I doubt that we will see some kind of consensus opinion.

Well, first of all is any Benchmade balisong (MT's might be even smoother), and then comes the axis lock folders.

chad234, you are right. I have a CRKT Kasper and it is smooth. Smoother than my MT Socom Elite. Are the new CRKT Kasper Professionals as smooth?
