What's the steel like in transmission disks for a Caterpillar wheel loader?

Just came across a bunch of (damaged and unusable for their original purpose) transmission disks from a Caterpillar wheel loader. I'm wondering what the steel is likely to be, and how to heat treat and temper it for use in blademaking or other blacksmithing projects. Anyone know? (I'd posted about this years ago, but can't find the old posts.)
