What's the stupidest thing you have done with a knife?

Most recent and most expensive, screwing around with my Fallkniven Thor Bowie it cut my finger, slipped out of my hand and somehow landed on the back of my ankle. Chopped in deep, went right through my achilles tendon like it was butter.

I thought that was going to end with a busted Thor but crap! That must really suck. Hows the achilles?

I was using a Mini Griptilian to shave some excess off of some detail molding during a custom cabinet install. I grabbed a short piece of molding, and holding it from the base, went to shave down it toward my thumb.

I remember thinking, "This is stupid. Always cut away from yourself. Nah, I've got control of the knife, and it's just a l--" that's when the knife slipped and did a riposte down the edge of the molding, right into the side of my thumb and stuck in the nail.

Wasn't really a bad cut, but it took some doing to get the blade pulled out of my nail. I had to hurry it outside, away from the client. Partially to keep the blood off the floor, but mostly because I felt like an idiot, and didn't want to answer any questions!

I cut myself pretty good once. The inner side of my thumb on my left hand has no feeling in it, I can a knife from the tip of the nail along the bone until the tip of the blade came through just on the inside of my hand. It's kind of neat I guess, when I hold a beer or any bottle I cant feel my thumb so its almost like its floating in my hand!

Been three months now and I'm off crutches, and in a walking boot/brace thing, it's healing though, and I have high hopes that it'll get back to 100% before long.

-And I'll always have a pretty cool scar from that one! :p

Handed my Caly 3 to a buddy to cut his demo derby wristband off.
After he had it off he complimented how sharp it was and how easy the band cut.

That was my cue he was done right?
Well I wasnt paying attention, and he had the band held out.In a cutting motion, he flicked the knife down to cut the band again right as my hand got close.

He cut the band like 2 more times before I noticed a warm feeling on my hand.
He slit the tip of my middle finger off, to my fingernail.I saw the tip of my finger on the ground as blood started to drip down my hand like crazy.

I didnt feel the cut initially and he said he didnt know he cut me.
Shit sucked

Thats the last time Ill ever be careless with a knife. If I wouldve been a bit faster I could have been cut much worse.

After drinking too much beer I decided to fondle my new Busse SAR4. Then I decided to find out where the balance point was. Then I tried to catch it as it was falling.

I got a nice deep gash across all four fingers and put a huge hole in the couch cushion.

Not my brightest moment!!

cut my left index finger when i was younger with an exacto knife. cut right to the bone, i occasionally get the feeling you get when you hit your funny bone on my finger. i have a pretty decent scar on my finger as well. i also have a scar on my hand where my mom stabbed me with one of those old corn on the cob spike thingys. i went to grap my corn while she was poking them in, and it went into my little finger... plenty of other scars all over my hand and arms from knives and screws and nails and scrap metal from my dads mustang...

Took one to school in 10th grade. Got a one week vacation.

I went to an arts accademy in the san fernando valley, carried a knife in pocket and a multitool on my belt every day, even let the Vice Principal use the two of them from time to time, never got in trouble once.

i was changing the tip on my pool cue and using a razor to take the old one off. i heard something funny on TV so i looked up and the blade slipped. i cut my finger real deep! i super glued it shut and it took about a month to heal

Tried polishing up a guard on a buffer @ 3400 rpm....no more of that for me.:thumbdn:

All these stories are proof that sharp knives are dangerous!! :D

Here's mine:
One day at work I was making a cup of tea at break time. I wanted to cut the string off of the tea bag. I held the little paper tag between the the thumb and forefinger of my left hand, with the tea bag dangling by the string. In my right hand is my Spydie rescue(freshly sharpened the night before). I swing the Rescue horizontally, intending to cut the string just above the dangling tea bag.
Well, you can figure out the rest. I missed the string by a wide margin. The tip of the blade went right through my left thumbnail about 1/4" up from the tip of my thumb and about 1/4" deep. A little more reach and I would have removed the end of my thumb. What a dumbass.

When I was in preschool I found my grandfather's orange-handled Air Force automatic in my dad's tool box. I thought it was cool, so I brought it to preschool! Fortunately the preschool provider just held onto it until my folks picked me up and told me not to do it again. :D

Cut a live wire by mistake.
Blew part of the edge right off.

Supersteel my a**..........

Moral: Use the right tool for the job, and be sure to turn off the power.

Technically if you cut into a hot wire by itself it wouldn't have done nething, you would have to cut into the hot and the neutral or the hot and ground.
;)
