What's the "Top of the Line" CRKT ???

the howard viele wasp, in my opinion hands down. Best use of materials, g-10, aus-118, titanium.

I like the materials of my Viele WASP, but I don't like the feel and carryability (is that a word?). I keep it on my desk for opening mail and things like that, but it just isn't all that comfortable to carry and use, IMO.

But the fit and finish and quality are excellent. The things I don't like about it are subjective, and strictly a matter of opinion.

I gotta vote for the PK Companion.can't beat the sheath system for the price.

2nds:
the contrail's cool cuz its light, exotic in respects to steel, and its made in Italy (like an italian sports car)

I like the M16 as well.

However, I think the best that I have are the Mirage variations. They have handled a great deal of use. All have been very solid with regard to the lock. I have often given them as gifts to people new to knives. They are a simple, straight forward design that meet the expectations.

M-16 in Titanium frame is pretty sweet. I have a feeling that the D.O.G. is going to go over BIG!

I'm very interested in the D.O.G. folder... ever since i saw Grant Hawk's custom version i've wanted one. The Lake Signature looks pretty nice too.. but as far as existing models go, i'd have to say the Titanium S-2, and the M-16 CF's are my favourites.

The M-18 gets great reviews but I've hav'nt handled one enough to recommend it.
Otherwise:
The Walker Bladelock is the king of the CRKT knives (IMHO). The only drawbacks are the AUS-6 steel (which is'nt really as bad as some would have you believe) and it is abit heavy (just over 4 oz).
Personally, I think the locking mechanism is terrific (although it does take a little practice), and the fit-and-finish is almost flawless on mine.
Truly, the only reason I don't carry mine is because of the weight. I prefer lighter-weight knives (Endura, Air Ranger, Calypso Jr, ect).

The #2 CRKT knife, IMHO, is the large Mirage. A very stout and extremly comfortable knife.

For the most wicked looking CRKT, check out the Seahawk II.

Good luck,
Allen.

I just recieved my M-16 13T. It is an awesome knife. I was happy to find it cost me only $58.00, instead of the $80 something it has been advertised as. No tax either. Thank you AAFES (Army, Air Force Exchange Service), or BX for the mentally impaired. It is very solid, and well built. I think it is the best knife they make to date.

Like ThorTso, my EDC is the Ryan Model 7 with a plain edge. I really like this knife, although I wish they'd make an AUS 8 version (maybe the Model 7 Pro?). This is one of my knives that I actually use daily, so I find myself sharpening it frequently. Fortunately, it doesn't take long to touch up using a Sharpmaker. Incidentally, I left the large thumbstuds where they were. They work good for me.

I'm eyeing the large KFF Pro and one of the large M-18's, which are both of excellent quality.

FC Yuk writes: I have to give my thumbs up to the Apache LE for the best CRKT knife.

I have to agree that this knife is one of the best bargains around. It fits the hand nicely, has a nice blade/handle angle, has a liner lock that is stronger than Gibralter and costs less than $30.00 on eBay, including shipping. Probably the best for hard work EDC I have found.

I was really interested in buying some of their knives, I love the designs and the tanto blade is sweet! But I hear alot of bad things regarding the liner lock getting caught up and sticking. Thats the main reason I have never baught one.

As for me; I have the Tighe Tac model... and IMO is very well fitted; sort of blend of classic with modern styles. Very elegant. I like a lot this model, especially de blade shape and smooth operation; very firm and the angled butt could be used as a strike device when closed in your hand.

It takes some to get used to the squared tumb stud; but work right form me now. I only wish they came with tip up carry, for faster draw out the pocket.

I have tested the tighe Tac and I liked the way that it felt and looked. They only problem I had was the way that it sat in my pocket. When the knife was in my pocket, and I tried to reach for something else, the knifes sharp corners would rub against my hand and scrape it a bit. Repeated scrapings would leave a tender hand.

S-2.
Dont get me wrong,I love the m-16 series. But you would not believe how many of the S-2's I sell everyday. Ti scales and ATS-34 for 50 to 60 bucks....cant beat it. IMHO it was being sold before its time, looks like the style of the S-2 is whats hot now. It seems that they are selling great now that they have been discontinued; of course the prices have dropped on all three sizes.

The spear-point M-16 is my favorite. I have the zytel version, which is nice to hold onto when it's cold out. Aluminum gets kinda chilly. Very versitile blade design, and the ergonomics work well for me.
I wouldn't mind trying out a point-guard, as these look and feel great, but haven't got one yet. Same with the Bwana.

I have both the KFF Pro an the M-18. IMHO they are both excellent knives, but I prefer the M-18 for the carson flipper.
