What can you tell me about this Spyderco knife design?

Price when new? Years made? Designer collaboration? thanks.

Its either the "Renegade" or the "Blackhawk"(?), I forget. I lost my older catalogs.

It's a Renegade. I see them at the gun periodically for $105-$115. I paid a bit less than that for mine. I do not carry it as it has been discontinued.

That is one fine looking knife! Will have to remember that name.

That reminds me, I can't find any pics of the Herbst -- either old or new. Can anybody provide a link? I'd appreciate it.

I think that might have been one of the first knives made in Golden, CO also.

reskite,
Does your knife have any tang stamps on the reverse side of the knife?

Paul

The words, "GOLDEN, COLORADO", and then on the next line, "USA", are stamped on the tang opposite the one pictured. "SPYDERCO", and then, "CIN-1 STAINLESS", are stamped on the side we see in the photo.

Overall, the knife is very finely finished, with no sideplay and a very symmetrical grind. The blade-lock junction line is nearly invisible. The blade itself is just a hair under 4" long and .0125" thick at the spine. The OAL open is 9", closed is 5.125" It balances right on the forefinger and is sharp as all get out.

I remember I got it right about the time that they introduced the AFCK. I wonder if maybe its market share was cannibalized a bit by the better known design?
