Sooo, you are fortunate enough to have put together a nice little collection of some semi-custom/custom knives
some of which are too fancy for EDC. So what do you put in your pocket? I just bought a CRKT Fossil for this reason.

To each his own. Carry. Fondle. Sniff and lick. Collect. Hoard. There is no objective morality in this regard.

I will carry each of my knives, except that I bought 2x of some knives just so I could hoard the second one.

not just too nice, too big. by luis mills:

same here, whats the point of buying it if your not going to use it
People collect all sorts of things that are or were meant to be used, including knives. It could be an investment, an appreciation for the aesthetic qualities of the knife, or something else.

The answer to this question will vary from person to person.......

What someone may view as a "grail/safe queen" is someone else's beater.

Some people EDC $2000.00+ knives and some people are too scared to carry a PM2 because it's too nice....

Because not every knife we buy gives us pleasure from it's use.

I have a small collection of knives I don't and won't use....one day they will belong to my kids.

I admire them for certain aesthetic attributes, and other intangibles. I have no need to use them.

The mentality of "why buy it if you're not going to use it" is the same as "why would anyone ever need anymore knife then a PM2?"

This is a hobby, and as in all hobbies, from stamps to cars, people enjoy it in many different ways.

I keep telling myself not carry the 940-1 although it's got the best EDC ergos. I've got the 484-1 in my pocket right now.

This is a highly subjective topic, "too nice" or "too expensive" vary a lot depending on each person's perception.

I enjoy carrying and using my knives. I rarely buy a knife that doesn't have some useful purpose, even if it's a very limited one. The only knives that never leave my house are those that have very deep sentimental meaning and are impossible to replace.

I don't own art knives or anything like that.

I Carry every knife I own except for one that is a safe queen/show piece. All of the blades I have are in the 300+ range from Strider to RHK to customs minus a mini grip and military . Each one gets carried and used for everything I would do in a day.

I agree with those above. If I'm gonna buy it, I'm gonna carry it! Maybe one day I'll have some just for show but not at this time.

Anything new is too nice for me to edc, then i get the first scuff on it and its open season.

For approximately 6 months, I carried and used a $2200 one off Darrel Ralph custom AXD.

If it's built to be used... why not use it?

Yeah I baby them a little at first, but then they are open game! I've found most collectors of knives very rarely even use a knife! They just buy them because they can!
