What's up with all of the Bead Blasted SHBM and SHSH lately?

I've been wondering ALOT about the Bead Blasted (or Double Cut) Busses that been available lately. Are these mostly aftermarket work by Busse or others or are these original? I haven't seen the Busse custom logo or any special logos on any of them, so I'm really wondering why these are selling for so much. My guess is that most of them are probably not the original coatings. I don't mean to stir things up, but I'd like to know what's going on here. And I want the newbies to be aware of this also, if the bead blasting isn't original work, to beware of the very, very high prices being asked. I have noticed that when these go on sale they don't mention that the bead blast is the original blade surface.

We don't hate you because you're beautiful, we just hate you because......

Before the 'ducci's' started buying them up, I had a few SHSH's and SHBM's. 7 and 6 for each.

Had 1 satin SHBM and have seen 1 or 2 DCBB SHSH's, but that was about it.

Most were by far the smooth black finish.

The satin SHBM was a LE and a fatty to boot. Wish I still had it.

the ducci clan is mostly to blame for all the double cuts and double cross's done on these fine blades.

only the skunk has access to the original double cutting equipment.
 
Walking Man is right. The "Bead Blasted" ones are most likely refinished by the shop after the fact. And Bead BLAST is the correct term as I don't think the shop even started Double cut until 2002 or so, so all the SHBM's that were refinished are BB, except for the ones comming out of the shop these days are double cut, like the liliputaganza and Blade Jungle assaults are all DC.

Thanks for the back up, Cobalt. There was an SHSH that was advertised and sold for A TON not too long ago(don't want to get too specific so I don't anger anyone) might have been one of these. I'm glad I know what I know now so I didn't end up spending that much.

Don't feel too bad, we all have our good and bad days in buying and selling. I am sure as bad as that deal may have felt, you will have or have had some great deals to make up for it. It all evens out in the wash:thumbup:
 
Why does everyone pick on us 'Ducci's??? I just don't get it! Now, one of my sons sold a beadblasted SHSH a long time ago and stated he did it himself, the 'Ducci family is as honest as they come. Blame Porkerson if you must blame someone.
 
I still think fakeducci is behind it all somehow.

I agree, because 3 years ago, you never heard of factory bead blasted Straight Handles, so it's funny that they are comming out of the woodwork now. I agree with you, that it is more likely that they are refurbished SH's. Not that it makes them any less in quality, it's just that people need to be informed. It's like repaintng a car.
 
Just for my information, what's the finish on the "Collector's grade" SHBM in the brochure on the right? Is it satin?

compare. and yet, the Rat Daddy LE is Satin. The angle and lighting makes a difference. The Collectors grade could have been Satin or Bead Blasted from that pic. Who knows what it is? I would bet that it is satin as any collector grade I have seen has always been satin in all models. But I could easily be wrong.
