Whats the problem with Bokers pivots and locks?
I have several Boker and Boker Plus knives and about 70% of them have or have had issues. My amazing Boker titan worker had a mysterious issue with varying lock engagement depth depending on which side of the pivot screw was adjusted. Somehow it resolved itself.
And my uber cool Boker Oberland Arms EDW.1 is currently having problems with a rocking lock and vertical blade play again depending on orientation of the pivot. It seems the method of holding captive the pivot shaft is very ineffective and allows approximately 30°+ of rotation. And depending on whether its rotated and stopped at its clockwise or counterclockwise most position determines how much lock rock and blade play it has regardless of how the pivot is tensioned.
Anyone else having these issues? And any advice on how to fix it short of sending to Boker for repair? Any advice is much appreciated.

I have a couple of Boker folders. In general, I haven't had major issues that affect the overall function or integrity. But there is a reason that many of their offerings are relatively cheap. You are stumbling on some of the reasons. I have had varying lockup on a Plus folder but it never seemed to affect the function or integrity of the lock itself.

Quality control and consistency has been an on and off issue for them for years now....in my experiences with over a dozen and then some bokers.

The plus made in China and taiwan is easily explained...but ive had german made ones with some issues on consistency and quality control. I only hope they pull together as ive always liked the brand and some of their offerings. Send them back and hope you get a good one.

I have a Minos, a War Toad, and a Kawaiken (the titanium VG10 one) and they are all nice knives with no problems.

In fact the Minos (Solingen made) is on par with any of my high end production knives as far as materials, fit and finish, and build quality. But all three are very smooth and solid.

My Taiwan kwaikens are great, my China made urban trapper which I like better than the kwaikens came with stripped handle screw and now I have to spend $6 to ship it and another $15 for them to replace it.

For me the German ones were crap.
