Whats up with my Kershaw speedsafe???!?

I have 2 speedsafes, a Whirlwind, and a Chive, the Whirlwind's at least 3 years old, and the Chive is 2, never had a problem with either one.

I guarantee you won't have this problem with Darrell Ralph/Camillus's ROBO technology ;)

I have not heard of very many problems with the speedsafe. I have six and never a problem. Kershaw's customer service is reported to be very good. Give them a call. Or if the knife is only a week old, your dealer should switch it for you.

Tried it, and just got a "Delivery Failed" notice back from my mail server.

Yep. Me too. Something is fishy....

NONE of the email addresses on Kershaw's website work. They all give the same error message.

try warrantyinfo@kershawknives.com its the one i used last week and they had about 5-10 minute return times during office hours, and a new spring sent to me only the day after. i received the package from them today and not only was there the spring i requested, but also a new set of screws, and a new clip. all it cost me was a few emails, and a short wait time for the package to arrive.

I tried emailing them, and it is just not working for me. I'm gonna call them tomorrow. This is what I got from my last email:

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients failed.

this is really kind of funny,

I just tried to email antdog and let him know how to reach Doug Flagg, manager of Kershaw. and antdogs email kicked back.

d_flagg@msn.com

If you have problem with kershaw try that address. Good people.

Call ,E-mail,or mail your knife to Kershaw they will proptly fix the knife. Or if you don't feel comfortable sending out the knife they will, upon your request mail you a replacement tortion bar for you to replace. They are great people and have a great warranty. Kershaw has thousands of these tortion bars made monthly. It is difficult to detect a scratch or ding in the tortion bar which could lead to premature failure of the speed safe .It is a rare occasion that this happens however our tests prove that an undamaged tortion bar can survive 50-60,000 cycles without failure.

"I guarantee you won't have this problem with Darrell Ralph/Camillus's ROBO technology"

Get one if you can, camillus/ralph will soon join timberline/vallotton.

This thread isn't about Camillus its about kershaws but I'm sure glad to know you personally stand behind their products. That leaves more of the good knives for the rest of us.Do you personally offer money back guarantees on the other companys wonderful products or just sing their praises for brownie points?

well, in that respect, why are most new folders one-handed openers? i think it all boils down to making knives easier or faster to open. seems logical enough.

Ahh, the joys of the ignore list.

Love it.

Well, I don't doubt it sir. I have been known to have a problem or two with my email (not many though)... However, I am not a major corporation. I have tried all the email addresses at Kershaw and none of 'em have worked for me. I will try the address you posted. If that falls through, I'll call.

By the way, I enjoy browsing through your excellent catalogs full of great pictures of knives! Thank you for posting the address.

I own a couple of Kershaw Mini and Random tasks. Haven't had any problems until today and the torsion bar broke on my EDC Mini Task. It broke just as the curve starts in the torsion bar. I guess I will call Kershaw Monday about a replacement. I wonder if the left hand models carry a different part? Larry

I suppose I've been fortunate with my Kershaws. I have a Chive, Leek, Scallion, Whirlwind and Avalanche and none have had any problems with the torsion bar. Of the whole lot, I like the Avalanche best and I've taken it apart and put it back together several times and it still kicks just like it was new. I have to agree that Kershaw and Ken Onion have put alot of effort on developing these knives and producing them so that they will perform as advertised. I'm sure Kershaw will be more than willing to replace or repair any defective part.

I've had Chive and Random Task. Both were very well put together. When the clip snapped on my Task a few weeks ago, an email to Kershaw with my contact information and model number was all it took to get two replacement clips shipped out to me free of charge. Excellent service, no trouble with email.

I called Kershaw monday Dec 1 about a replacement torsion bar for my Mini Task. Got a couple of replacements in the mail Friday 5th. Kershaws warranty department took care of me in record time. thanks Larry

Kershaw mailed me back two new torsion bars to fix my chive. My knife is now up and running again.

I'm impressed.

Thanks everyone for their replies.

Score one for Kershaw knives. :)

i work in a retail knife store and I have seen at least 10 chives and scallions come back for warranty. I had a scallion myself that also broke but that was after like 2 years of flciking it nonstop while working at my comp. A co-worker of mine has had two boa's break on him. I dunno if its just luck or what but seeing so many of those things broken does not give me much security in how well they are put together.

Is it possible that the springs that are being used are not treated or hardend? Is it possible to do this withought comprimisng the springiness of the speedsafe?
