What's Up with Opinel?

Ah, Opinel. Now in exotic wood handles too. My two old ones are aging gracefully in the tool box, living lives of leisure, never having parted anything. C'est la vie.

I just never liked the fact you have to manually close the blade, the Opinel design has no spring to snap the blade closed. It's not a necessary thing, but just seems lacking to me...

A slight deviation to topic, apologies, but I have an Opinel style knife that that does have a spring snap. AL and a crown on the blade. Anybody know what it is?

Just bought one for $15 recently, but would consider $22 still a bargain.

- exactly

The Opinel is a very simple and original design, it hasn't developed much at all over the years......and no need imho

They are very well made for what they are and cheap as chips.

Any rectification of the moans and groans about them will likely result in a price hike.....and a possible loss of the wonderful and practical simplicity.

We are all very lucky to have so much choice with our sharps from all across the world - if you don't like something that is at this pricepoint, find something else :) .......fun having a moan though ;)
