It seems these were available ever so briefly. I snagged one and I really like it. It has exceptional fit and finish, almost custom level, but it is massive so I haven't carried it much. Anyone know if they are putting more of these out anytime soon? Anyone have experience EDCing theirs?

Liked the look and the concept. But too massive for me. I dont want to carry a knife weighing more than 6 oz. Then I look at the Ultimate Hunter. Very similar in style to the 4 Max,but a much better size for rugged edc use. Much cheaper. I really like mine.

I have had my eye on the Ultimate Hunter. I'm really hoping this year will bring an AD-10 to the custom classic line.

The first batch sold out pretty fast, maybe even sold out in pre-order, ikd. I stupidly decided to wait and see reviews before buying, so I didn't get one of the originals. The latest batch has a different lock bar that I don't like. It doesn't have the step in it like the one on the original, and there are also a few reports of the bar standing proud of the back of the handle. Link: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1438967-Fake-Clone-Cold-Steel-4-Max. As far as availability, it appears like this particular knife may be subject to limited availability throughout its lifetime. Since we don't know who's making them, I can only assume it's either a smaller company with limited production abilities or a larger company that only does batches when they can without interfering with their own products. I hope they go back to the original specs on the lock bar on the next batch (finger crossed).

That looks like lemonized batch, because that bar protruding so high just doesn't seem right at all. So much for superior American quality control..

I purchased one of the ones with the raised lockbar. Cold Steel currently has it. I was told that they are being sent to Demko Customs for a new lockbar, by the rep I spoke to on the phone. He said that they made these. Never heard that before. Interesting.

That is indeed very interesting. I have a few Demko customs, and I have to say, my 4max feels just like a Demko custom, so that makes sense. I am surprised though that Demko is taking on that job, as it seems likes he is already pretty busy making customs. Very cool though if you ask me, and it sounds like your knife is in very good hands.

Outside of the lockbar being raised, I have to admit, the action on the lockbar is as smooth as my uncles AD10.

Now the AD10 is more polished-especially on the underside of the lockbar. But that is why you pay top dollar for a Demko knife.

I'm anxious to get it back though. That knife feels realllllllyyyy nice in hand. Perfect Ergos. It's like a folding BK2 with a much better blade geometry and ergonomics, in addition to superior materials.

+1 I have 8 Demko custom knives , I have 2 4max , one has been customized and they are both very close to the custom 4max.

I was told Demko Knives are making the 4MAX, by Cold Steel Customer Service.

If what you were told is the straight dope, well it's a classic case of Good & Bad news:

The Good...Andrew made the perfect 4Maxes!

The Bad...Andrew made the jacked-up 4Maxes also! :thumbdn:

Say it ain't so!

Andrew, there's no way you'd let something this poorly finished leave your bench...would you? :(

Yeah I just got one. Knicks on the spine of the blade. Bad sharpening job, lockbar issue. Not impressed and cold steel doesn't have any stock to replenish this defect of a knife.

To be 100% clear I (demko knives) am not producing the 4MAX. The confusion is I am repairing any returned 4MAX knives by only dissembling and installing the new rocker from our vendor.

Noted! But that means CS might need new US vendors...😞

Thank you for the clarification. Too much speculation here that could have been avoided if CS CS had commented, but I am glad that these are in your good hands. I'm looking forward to getting mine back and putting it to work :)
Do you have the new rockers? Any guesses on the time frame for the repair?
thanks for both the repair and the original design!

I just received the rockers today and will be installing tomorrow. I plan to ship in a day or two. I believe I have the necessary contact info and will contact the knife owners the day of shipping . Thanks
