What's up with the Phoenix???

I was planning on buying one of these but I see little to no posts on this website. On Spyderco's Forum the seem to be spotty with scratches on the Ti, too sharp edges and sticky ball locks. Quality seems to be hit and miss, something I wouldn't expect at this knife price point. Anyways I'm wondering if anyone here has any input on the knife?? Good bad or indifferent.

Mine had a few scratches and a sticky ball lock, I thought I would live with it since I carry and use all of my knives but then it got the better of me and I ended up sending it off to Spyderco to have a look at the QC issues. I really wanted to love this knife, I hope it will be right....I know..no help on your question.
 
I have read several glowing reviews on here and on the forum at spyderco.com. Paying members can use the search feature on this site...you might look into it.
 
I have only handled a couple at my friends shop but they all seemed ok to me.
I would buy one if it didnt have the extra holes in the blade and the micarta scales. It would look much better with just Ti scales and one hole in the blade :p
Other than that its a nice smooth action, good lock, good materials and pretty nice overall :thumbup:
 
Lock was too stiff... very big disapointment too me, but I had too pass on the ones I handled at the SFO.

Okay, anyone from the Spyderco forum already knows, I LOVE mine! Absolutely the best folder I own!

Maybe I got lucky (twice!:D:D) but mine is fit, finish and over all totally wonderful. Love BBLs and this one works perfectly. Rides great in my pocket. My sole reservation was the hollow grind (prefer FFG) but I don't mind it at all.

I like the Viele three hole and God of War symbol on the blade. My first Viele and very cool!

And I seem to be the only one who thinks the white micarta looks and feels terrific. I've seen the CF upgrades a couple have done. They are nice but I prefer the stock scales. I don't think straight Ti would feel as good in the hand.

It's uber smooth, locks up tight and strong. Perfect one hand open/close. A blast to "play with" and cuts super well.

My biggest surprise was how strong this thing is. It's a little tank of a knife.

I really wanted to like this knife. I went to my local knife store all pumped and ready to buy until I handled it, I was not impressed the fit and finish wasn't that good the edges are sharp/not finished. I am not crazy about the Ball lock this I thought I would learn to like/get used to, The end of the handle should be rounded They seem to jab into my hand. I would still buy one at a lower price or I find a trade.
