What's up with these Buck's

gotcha thanks. I'll let the experts do the talking here.

That’s what I was thinking. There in great condition

Maybe something that you can't see like maybe the metal isn't treated right or something wrong with eternal workings??? Just guessing....They look great, nothing else they'd be good user's....

Years ago Chuck Buck started the practice of sending factory seconds to various missionary groups to distribute as tools for the people they served. Before sending the knives, the name BUCK was ground off. I don't know if that's the case here but it might be a possibility.
gotcha. thanks for explaining.

Maybe they were some of the Buck missionary knives.

Years ago I picked up this Grand Daddy Barlow it has the same thing done to it and I was told the same thing... it was probably a Missionary Knife. It has Buck on the bolster, not sure why that was left, it's on both sides. Preston

Is the shield sanded on the handle too

They could of been cobbled together when Camillus was going under. I believe Camillus tried to use up as much inventory as they could before the doors closed.

Out of curiosity what year did Camillus go under and why? Not trying to be off topic but i guess i am:confused::)
