What's up with these Buck's

The factory in Camillus NY closed in 2007 due to bankruptcy, ending US production. Offshore Camillus branded knives are still in production.
 
The Laser etch on these makes me think these were factory seconds that were cobbled together for retail sales.
Did Buck ever etch "Made in USA" on 300 series?
 
Just curious, if these were for the missionaries and they were exported wouldn't they have to be plainly marked country of origin??

We never did that type of etching.. It would be hard stamped. Our Factory Blems would never have the stamp ground off..

Not sure how the export rules would work on this Sass...
 
I have shipped hundreds of knives and swords overseas. To ship something overseas the item itself does not need to be marked in any way where they were made
but the customs forms does have to have the country of origin filled out as to where the item was originally manufactured if it is known.
