What's With The Flood of New SR101?

Indeed. No worries. I love my taliwhacker in sr101, but any bigger than that, I think INFI truly shines. Big choppers! We want em!

Yep. The bigger the blade, the more the advantage swings to INFI. But from a pure price/performance perspective, SR101 is REALLY hard to beat. I'm confident in saying that anyone in possession of an SR101 knife regardless of its size should feel very, very secure in its ability to perform in the most stressful of situations. In fact, I'm so confident in SR101 that I'm willing to stake my life on it. I really can't give an alloy and the genius who heat-treats it much more of an accolade than that.

I love my SR-101 equally as much as my INFI!!! In my experience, SR-101 takes and holds a keener edge for longer than INFI, at the expense of INFI's corrosion resistance. They are both excellent steels! :D

I kinda figured Busse was clearing out SR-101 stock to make room for a new steel. Either way I'm happy I got a chance to order a Battle Grade AMS.

Great, genuinely happy for you, go get some of that Jackmandu-

I agree completely. The only other thing I'd add is that INFI has better lateral strength that SR101 has which is why I generally prefer INFI for choppers. But SR101 is no weakling and corrosion can be managed if folks take care of their blades properly.

I think we can all agree that the only one who hates the flood of new products are our spouses and savings account!

I have to agree with most here. When I saw the "flood" I thought WT_? Busse, for me, has always been about INFI. I've been around long enough to remember the different steels to work up to INFI,M-INFI etc. Also when the other 2 companies started utilizing different steels. I've used them all over the world and they never failed. I'm kinda fond of INFI you might say.
With all that being said, I've seen wait time go from a looooong 2 weeks to almost instant gratification. I believe, IMO that what Jerry is doing is huge. He is taking the reputation of B.C.K. and teaming it with a different steel in many of the new/ old styles to get a product out there at a more affordable price point. I've watched probably thousands of people come to the Busse table at the INFI 1500 and fall in love with a knife until they see the price. Then it becomes an education process about why INFI is worth the extra $$.
The conversation Jerry had with me at a show when I bought MY first Busse back in the 90's was the same way. It ended up with IIRC " You've walked by the table 3 times, would you just buy the damn thing. You're making me tired!" And thus began the sickness. I have no doubt that Jerry will continue to "Bring it" no matter what steel he uses for MY tools!
Sorry for the ramble but felt the need to add my .02

Wrt lateral strength; Is that certain? What is the measure?

Most people cannot break a blade of either steel. IMHO, what matters for choppers is edge toughness. AFAIK, there is an advantage to INFI in this application. For some years now, users have been saying that they prefer SR101 in a small blade, but INFI in a big blade.

Either is going to be difficult for the average user to damage under almost any situation they might encounter.

Again. The only thing I want to know is are we going to get some regular, longer-term production models, or is it going to the short term, limited production model? I like all the steels, and will be buying blades regardless of steel type. I've bought rats, hogs, and dogs so that's not a big deal either. But, there are several models I wanted but passed on due to budget, considering I have numerous on order already, and I don't put them on a credit card. It would be nice to know if that nuclear meltdown pig Latin rodent.squirrel hammering dog bite recurve is going to be around for more than a day or two, so I can decide if I want to pull the trigger or just wait for the b13 or re release of the nmfsh or whatever..

Jerry's own words. But I don't have the time or the inclination to go find the post. What he said is that the only alloy he's used that can keep up with INFI's lateral strength is SR77.

I thought I read somewhere about the Busse compound recently being expanded for more SR101 output, which makes sense with what we have been witnessing with Op Two Weeks. I'm not complaining. INFI is great, but acquiring it sure add$ up quick!
