What's with the thumb ramp hate?

Thumb ramps.... I don't hate them, but I don't care for them either.

I have two BK9's one is stock with the addition of micarta scales, while the other one has had the ramp removed and the butt rounded to the contour of the handle scales.

It really comes down to personal preference.

Thumb ramps are an abomination and a sign of the end of days. Well, that might be a little strong. I just don't care for them.

See you in the end, brother. Where the thumb ramp give me superior zombie killing prowess! This topic has started me wondering if there's some way to 'test' a technique. So much is 'meh, I do it this way'

I do wonder though... For those of you who cut em off... Were they in the way? I'm lazy. So, I play to that. SURE, I was gonna make my BK2 into a bowie shape at the end of a the drop point. (for the awesome factor) Then the lazy kicked in and I was like... meh... Now I gotta know... Was it 3 or 4 times cutting with it and stubbing a thumb on the thumb ramp before it was THAT HAS GOT TO GO! Or more subtle?

Looks and feel, looks and feel...

I been using one of my BK7's hard for a while now and thought about removing it, finally got rid of it and wish I did along time ago.......looks and feels awesome

Everybody has their own technique for what they do most with a knife, and for me, the ramp seems to get in the way often. That, and it's an abomination and the cause of our current financial crisis and high gas prices. But some people love 'em and that's what makes it all fun.

I blame thumb ramps for the debt ceiling. And roadside littering. And the Kardashians.

I was actually thinking about leaving the thumb ramp on my BK10. Doesn't seem to be too much of an issue currently. Will have to give it some use to see.
