Yes, design theft is one of the main reasons that the release of photos is now carefully controlled.

Seem strange to show a prototype at a show, but not allow pictures. Once a knife is displayed at a show, it's design can be known in more detail than a single picture. Any knife maker with design skills could sketch it out from memory pretty quickly and readily identify the materials and possibly method of construction. Auto companies keep prototypes under wraps until shows, then they'll let all the pictures in the world to be taken in order to build up the BUZZZZZ. It's a good marketing strategy.

I really like the concept of the Lil T. I have the original and my only real problem with it is that it does NOT fit my hands. I have small hands and the finger cut-outs just don't work for me, particularly the lower part (the little finger end), which is too wide. Maybe this is what makes it work for other people, though ?? I confess that I reshaped the handle because I liked the knife so much I still wanted to use it. The Dodo is another cool design that just does not work for my hands for a similar reason, in this case because it forces the fingers to spread out too much.
So if I could request only have one modification to the original Lil T it would be to avoid overly structured handle that tries "aggressively" to force finger placement. thanks to Sal for listening to oddball opinions.

Pics for us have been problematic for a number of reasons.

Possible design theft is only one.

If it is a true "prototype" and production is less than 6 months away, we allow pic for the "buzz" Brownshoe mentioned.

But many are just "concept models" still in development. We bring them to shows to get first hand feedback to assist in that development.

Often the original "concept models" are greatly alterred for production or are not produced at all. Many see the pics and think that the model is available, call for info, etc.

Since those decisions have not yet been made, our sales people spend much time on the phone saying, "no info yet".

easier to avoid the pics.

Thanks Sal, I understand the reason why spyderco hesitate to bring up pics of prototypes now.

However, another question comes upon your answer.

Does this mean the new Lil'T is still more than 6 months away??? I thought it would come out in this May. :( :( :(

Thanks Sal for the head up.

Well, it's both a sad and a good news to me. The good part is the design is being carefully refined and it definately gona turn out to be a kickass knife! :D The sad part is I've been expecting this knife for so long and now I need to wait even longer. :grumpy:

BTW, will the new lil'T also got a stronger pivot like the upcoming new manix?

The new handle is lighter and takes up less space.
From my perspective this is some of the best news about the revised Lil Temp. The only .... reason I sold mine some time ago was because it just seemed too big (maybe chunky) when it was in my pocket. I'll look forward to getting my hands on one of the new ones.
