What's yer favorite neck knife? why?

I really dig neck knives... I just hate neck carry. I love the small fixed blades, but generally prefer sheaths with belt attachments or clips.

One of my favorite "neck knives is Rob Simonich's Pikuni. Wonderful all around knife. I really enjoy mine. Mike Cooper (L6steel) makes some outstanding neckers as well. I have one with blue G10 handles that is a great little knife. Wayne Hendrix is one of the best values in small custom fixed blades I have ever seen. The downside to his knives for this purpose, is they come with leather belts sheaths. You would need to have a kydex neck sheath custom made for you if you want neck carry. Lot's of great little "neck knives" out there. I prefer custom, as they are generally a very affordable way to break into the custom market. Many Makers off neck knives in the price range of Benchmade and Spyderco folders.

I’m not too partial to neck knives because they balance on the edge – any acceptable handling causes them to become too big and too heavy for neck carry. On the other hand when they are small and thin enough they usually display poor handling abilities.

However I can imagine some amount of situations when neck carry would be the only acceptable carry method. Or at least strongly preferable... Nice young lady, for example, with entire clothing made up of the knife only

Well, choosing neck knife for myself I would think about FÄLLKNIVEN WM-1 and BENCHMADE Tether. Both display acceptable balance between carrying comfort and handling abilities when working.

My favorite EDC neck knife for the last few years has been the Livesay Woo Exec. It is a sound knife and served me well. Recently I decided that I wanted a knife for neck carry that was smaller and lighter than the Woo. I opted for the Emerson Lagriffe. I love it. It is so small that it goes unfelt on my neck. I wrapped the grip on it for a more textured gripping surface and to keep the knife more stable against my chest. I have found that the wrapping of the handle seems to stop some of the swinging of the knife, since there is that texture against your chest. I find the knife is a great little slicer with that fine point. It makes doing fine cutting chores a breeze. Here is a pic of it after the wrapping.

Rob Simonich's new Crowfoot Mid-Tech. Great little knife. Light, extremely sharp, very low profile under a shirt. Hole on end makes it much like grabbing a kerambit. Excellent design.

I wasn't into neck knives at all, and then Darrel Ralph sent me one of his Arclites for some work that I did for him. Nice knife, blue/black scales, and I found out the sheath worked out great for neck carry. Next I bought a mini-puukko in memory of James Mattis, I wore this one every day for over a year. My most recent one was a CUDA Mini-Talon, that Rob Simonich sent me for some work. This is a really well designed knife and I think Camillus did a great job of manufacturing it.

But, my favorite was a gift from my friend DonE, it's a Carson F4 with Daryl Meire Damascus and the only one with stag scales. ;)

I agree with Phil in that the small F4 is a wonderful little piece. My all time favorite though, (and I've had a lot!), is a standard Crawford neck knife but in 6AL4V titanium with the drop point. Perfect size and even my "toxic sweat" can't touch it. If you've never experienced one, it's featherweight just "disappears" around your neck, (the way a necker should). Easy to sharpen to a razor's edge and unlike some of the stories you've heard, the edge lasts long enough to be practical.

Dozier Razorback neck knife.
Hate to mention it here. Then everyone will want one.
Why? Fits in the hand better than all others. Is easy to clean, stays sharp, no printing, light, never will fall out of the sheath, slices, dices, stabs, concealable, sure grip, balanced for throwing, affordable, does everyday chores cepting the big ones, non threatinging to sheeple, throwaway if need be, easily sharpened to razor edge. Fits any where else you may want to carry it other than as a neck knife. Sews easily onto/into your pants, jacket, pack whatevers.
Have most of the others mentioned in this post. No contest.
