A Stihl 036AVE Chainsaw and hydraulic wood splitter. It's probably not the combo you were thinking of though:)

Merry Christmas Y'all, Pat

My dream woods cutting tool combo?

Mors Kochanski to cut the wood, and Ray Mears to haul it. :D And then we could sit around the fire, they would talk, and I would listen.

Fallkniven S-1 & Leatherman Wave in a Survival sheath on belt

and a Kershaw Outcast in my pack!

I'll go for now with a little 8" Fiskars and lets say a Koster Bushmaster (I own a proto :)) or Fallkniven S1/F1.

I'm just now starting to figure out that there are some better axes and hatchets out there than Sears brand - not that there is anything wrong with 'em. So a nice axe is probably on my horizon.

Funny.....that is mine too! :D

I saw this thread title and I was about to post the very same thing!

I really wish it didn't cost so much to get one of those axes to the UK (although thanks for saying it could be done Brian).

My wife nearly actually got me one for Christmas but by the time we added in the customs charges it took it over budget :(

One day...

I find the flat axe a safer tool, given my general swing trajectory. That coupled with a slicer and a small folder (897UH or SAK Farmer) and I'm covered:

Hi all, mine is, well two knives and a hatchet that I made. The 2 knives
are in the same sheath that I made with a pouch to hold E-Z lap model M diamond sharpener and then there is a pouch that holds a match safe with some survival goodies. in it. firesteel, cotton, hooks, line, needles stuf like that. The Hatchet is the third one that I have made and so far the best one I like out of the three. I just finished it up on tuesday and had just a few hours to use it but so far I am really happy with it. I was gone Wed. and today is Christmas. As my main every day carry my T H Bushcrafter,( the bigger knife) and the little knife is a knife I call the Handy little knife.
I use it once in a while just for fun, but bigger knife is my main user as of now. I like to have another fixed blade knife with me every day:D to ( loose one break one what ever). It could happen LOL
I also like having a hatchet to with my kit that I take pretty much every where. If I leave the house and walk over to the shop where I make knives at ,I take this kit to. get my ATV it goes go for a hike it goes you get the idea. I have several hatchets and just have found something that I did not like with them so I made my own. Here is a pic of it, and the knives, sheath and other goodies. My water bottle carrier has a sling on it and a pouch that holds a few more goodies to. This kit just works for me. It is easy to transport pretty much everyware. ( court houses and airports excluded places like that. )

The hatchet in this pic is the first one I made and not the newest one.
But you get the idea of every thing.

This is my kit all packed up.

For going on a hike with Kelly Girl. This is her just relaxing a bit LOL

This kit is what I take.
My knives and hatchet are as of now my Dream combos for woods walking in
my area.
I also use my 2 axes that I got from Brian Andrews a 17" handle and a 24" handle one. The axe with the 24" is on my ATV 24/7. and the 17" rides in the our car 24/7. If I did not use the hatchet that I made then the next best one is the GB mini.

Well, Stihl 026 and 051AV for me (and yeah, I've got a BIG hydraulic log splitter...).

While hiking it's my new BK9. Got here just a couple of days ago and I already love it!
