My Case Mini Copperhead gets used all day in the kitchen and around the house. Its small and takes the finest edge of any knife I own. Super handy. Plus its got Blue Bone which gives me a uh, smile.
I've got several Dutch army knives. One of them always is in a basket in the kitchen, with pens en pencils and other stuff. That DAK is my around the house knife.
I spend a lot of time in a housecoat and carry a 4 inch skinner style fixed blade in a kydex sheath for housecoat carry and I use that knife all the time for everything.
If I'm geared up for the day it's whatever the EDC of the day is. Shorts and t shirt around the house, almost always Manix 2 lightweight. Good sized blade for home tasks while only tugging in your pocket with 2.7 oz.
My around the house knife is usually whatever knife that I bought that week. New knives sit at my desk until they are assigned a slot in a Spyderpac. That usually happens on the weekends. So I usually snag whichever knife I have out for household chores. If the chore is a tough one though THEN I tend to go for my Gayle Bradely.
Kind of whatever is in the location I’m in. For example, in my desk drawer in my office, I have an Opinel No.10 for opening letters, slicing fruit, etc. By my bed I have a CUTCO/KA-BAR Explorer (7” blade w/black kraton handle)...right next to my .45 government model. L-O-V-E the feel and finish of that knife. In my pocket pretty much at all times for utility is my Douk-Douk. May have to swap the Douk-Douk out though; a buddy that I used to work with just returned from A-Stan and keeps singing the praises of his Microtech Halo V. Had some previous experience with Microtechs; they’re great knives, but the Halo V may wind up being too big for me to lug around. Gonna borrow it for a week and decide after that. Dunno, the Halo’s much better for defensive carry than a Douk-Douk (slippies are not as quick to deploy), but that little French knife is so damned thin and comfy to carry…if only it had a clip.
EDIT: For around the outside of the house, I usually find some reason to employ my Cold Steel Kukri...great utility blade, but big.
I've got a Havalon Piranta laying around the house for utility jobs. I spend enough time sharpening so it's a relief to just chuck the old blade in the trash when it gets dull and snap a new one in place.
If the job requires a beefier blade then the old Endura is next in line. Rarely will I pull one of my "collectables" out to do a job that can be performed with a $50 beater.
I use every knife in sight when im around the house, but I always gravitate toward my Spyd Millies or Sage 2.
These folders seem to handle whatever I ask of them...and they do it very well.
My Endura FFG is my hardcore beater as well.
