Or the most brizzarre (sp)?

Mine is to take a straw or similiar object and clasp it between your teeth(dog bone style) LOL

Take whatever beverage you might be drinking at the time, and take a looooonnnngggg sip of the beverage, focusing on sipping over the straw.

Its a faith cure,

So if it don`t work its YOUR fault :D

Lets here `em

I have heard "hold your breath" and "drink a glass of water" so...

I put them together, and get=hold my breath for a while, till I almost can't handle anymore, then drink as much water as possible without breathing.

That begs the question: Then what do you do to get rid of your headache once you've regained consciousness after having passed out due to holding your breath way too long? :p :D ;)

teaspoon of sugar will stop hiccups everytime. handy thing is there is a teaspoon worth in a packet of sugar. no turning blue, or dribbling water over yourself either!

BOO!

Hold your ears and nose shut while drinking a glass of water.
Taught to me by an ol'time bartender in 1974.
This really works.
You look silly but it works.

Mine is the same as Ebbtide's except the way I heard it was to lean over and hold your head as close to upside down as you can before you swallow the water. I've used/seen this used probably 10 or 12 times and only once did it fail and then it worked on the second try.

This must be a team cure, would not want to try this alone :D

The sugar does work every time.
Honey could possibly work, but it's not always available when I get hiccups.
I'd suggest a little more than a teaspoon.
Do not attempt to swallow the granulated sugar all at once.
Let it dissolve in the mouth and swallow a small amount of it at a time.
This has never failed me in some 40 years of doing it. ;)

Haven't had hiccups in years. When I did, the glass of water or the teaspoon of sugar methods both worked.

(And hiccups are only funny to the people around you. :( I had such a bad case of hiccups - three days without break - on a visit to England about 20 years ago that our friends were thinking of taking me to the local ER. I guess that threat finally cured them.)

I throw myself in front of a SLOW (that part is important!) moving bus. By the time I get out of the hospital, the hiccups are gone ! :D

This works 90+% of the time: You place the heel of your dominant hand just below the Xiphoid Process at the base of the sternum so that the bottom of the hand is just touching the top of the Diapragm. Place the other hand on the person's back- roughly opposite the dominant hand. Have the 'Hiccup-ee' go through 3 or 4 deep breath cycles. On the last, have them exhale completely- totally empty the lungs. Then press your hands gently, but firmly together, compressing the chest. Hold from 5-10 seconds. DO NOT "Punch" this in, as injury can result.

Where the hell was this when i was single (years ago) and chasing girls around barstools and pool tables. What a great way to,

well to, ah, you know

cure hiccups :D

I've found breathing through my nose, and breathing up and down, rather than in and out stops them every time. Sounds weird, I know..but it works for me.
