Best one I've used and it's been effective for everyone: a spoonful of peanut butter. Nice, big spponful and swallow that down. Works instantly every time.
Every now and then chronic hiccup sufferers (like weeks on end without stop!) will walk into chiropractic offices. That usually works, too. Just talked to another local DC today and he said he had a guy who hiccuped for 2 weeks straight. Did a reflex type adjustment called a Vagal Tug release, which involves the cranium and diaphragm, and the guy walked out with no more hiccups!
