A couple of members have mentioned recently that the Umnunzaan is their consumate

knife. Mine is the M4 Millie... great steel, blade length, handle size, and weight.

I do have a Zaan but I have others that I like better.

What knife that you own or have owned is your consumate knife?

Consumate: complete or perfect in every way.

No such thing for me. But with my tanto large seb in my back pocket, and burger lexk in the front, I've found myself pretty satisfied and haven't found either to be lacking for their respective purposes.

Seb takes care of the hard work I'd flinch trying to put the burger through and the burger handles the sheeple and edc tasks with the grace of a ballet dancer.

Haven't found a comprise in one knife, but with the two I'm set. Maybe the acies I want to get will be that for me

Without being held to the exact definition of some endearing terms I might use when excited about some knives, I'm on record as considering the Umnumzaan as one of the best folders I have ever carried. That coming form someone who prefers thicker blade stock and a little more girth than the Zaan sports.

So even though I'm on record of feeling that way, I can't call it perfect in every way when it comes to physical attributes but it just carries so small while still being large, it functions perfectly in my book and it simply feels like a precision folder in every way when I operate it. Opening and closing it has a precision, dampened feel to it. Even when disengaging the lock bar, there is a sense of precision dampening in the action. Smooth . . .

I still have a few other knives that are almost as close to how I feel about the Zaan ;)

God I hope I never find my perfect knife because then it would be hard to justify spending the money on another one

I have to go with my Fallkniven PXL. It is as smooth as silk to open and close, the blade is made from laminated 3G powder steel, the frame is of stainless steel and the slabs are beautiful Ivory Micarta. It has a powerful lock that ends any fear of failure. Feels good, looks good and it works good! ;-)

Cheers
Leo

Don't have one. I like different knives for different situations. Sometimes I'll toss a simple slipjoint in the pocket and other times I really want a fancy damascus custom folder with me...and then other times I just want to drag around a cool Khukuri......

Different knives for different moods.

Don't have one, don't ever expect to have one. Different tasks need different tools.

The closest I'll ever get will always be the next knife I'm planning on buying.

Ive never found a perfect folder, but I think the Ratmandu is the consummate fixed blade. There is nothing I would change about it.

Haven't heard many Sebbie owners claim their Benza is their hard user. (not that it can't handle it...just commonly referred to as being "too pretty")
Surprisingly, I'd say my BM 707 Sequel would be my favorite folder a far as size, ergo's, locking mechanism etc.... and the 154CM blade works just fine too.
And I can't help but put my Spyderco Millitary right beside the 707 because I don't like leaving home without it...except on formal occasions.

I carry a massive arrange of knives every day but the "perfect" one I guess at the moment is my m16-14sfg not too big, not too small I can choke up real well If I need too, good lock, good enough steel, handles perfect for my hand.... I just like it, it's my "perfect At the moment"

When I get my new zt350 from my friend it'll replace it Proubly...

I'm a little old school.I'd go with any of my custom shop Buck 110s.Add my Case Damascus Peanut and a SAK,I'm a happy man.

Kershaw Blur in S60V with the assistance disabled. it is comfortable, strong enough for EDC, easy to open fast or easy to open slow, very good edge retention, and pretty, not to mention very grippy and comfortable, handle. the only thing i would like would be slightly stronger lock and thicker blade, but that is why I carry an ZT 0200 too .

I'm getting closer - I REALLY like my recently acquired Strider SmF with lego g10 scale and concealed carry ti scale, and S110V blade steel with 3/4 hollow grind.

It's easily one of the best knives I've owned, and it hits a lot of sweet spots for me.

Double choil, ergonomics, stone washed ti scale and pocket clip, somewhat exclusive steel, killer pivot, strong, confidence inspiring knife.

I don't think there will ever be the "one ring to rule them all", but if I was never to buy another knife for some freak reason I think I would be happy with this particular SmF and have no regrets.

Not sure if a consummate knife exists but the best all around knife I own - the one that does more of the tasks I need done than any other is my Becker BK2. It's not perfect but it's one heck of a thing. Cleaned these panfish with it yesterday for instance...
