What do you always have with you in your car/truck (besides roadside emergency gear) of the knife variety?

I've downsized from my F-150 to a CRV, but I have with me; a Vic Rescue Tool, SwissTool, Sterling Sharpener, RAT-3, Ranger Entry Tool, and a Craftsman Japanese folding pull saw with cordura sheath.

Swamp rat crash axe and esee 5, but they leave pretty often to come with me places :)

Oh... and a gerber multitool with wharnie, file and saw blade

EDIT:

for me my EDC is the same in the car truck or on my bike, a BRKT Gunny, Leatherman Skeletool and a Coal Creek Forge hawk, the Gunny rides on my hip at all times the leatherman rides in my back pocket and the hawk stays in my camelbak

Oh Fudge, I see only subscribers can post pics...and I have a dandy one of my Swisstool with bit kit and Atwood Doubleheader wrench all fit in the factory beltpouch...

Easy fix....Become a member :D It's inexpensive and IMO has great benefits..

I have a Boker Steelmariner order for my girlfriend’s car, I almost bought a cold steel Brooklyn smasher, but I'm more into soft ball. I got the jumper cables in a pack that came with the car when we bought it, but I thought it could use a saw(serrated) pry blade little bit cheap on cost (maybe no rust).. Will let ya' know later how that goes if I remember.

I've got a gerber gator, e-tool, jumper cables, a hatchet and about 3000 toys for my 4 year old to play with

My Man Sack is a Maxpedition MPB (black). It stays in the vehicle and contains:

- Bible (NIV Study)
- small paperback (Resurrection, by Hank Hanegraaff)
- small "Pocket Ref" reference book; can keep me busy for a long time
- legal pad and file folder
- pens, pencils, Sharpies
- large Moleskine notebook
- Coffee Mate
- Fenix 2xAA light
- Leatherman Wave
- Countycomm medium breacher bar (like I am ever going use that)
- Pelican case with misc contents: duct tape, Blackberry charger, earplugs, suncreen, lighter, monocular, spare keys to MIL's car, spare cash, etc.
- EMT shears
- small first aid kit (scrapes and boo boos only)
- nail clippers, dental floss, chapstick, tums, diphenhydramine
- advil, anti-diarrhea, cough drops, hand sanitizer
- hand lotion
- Tide stain pen
- Countycomm am/fm/shortwave radio (nice)
- spare batteries
- 1 spare loaded mag for whatever EDC gun I happen to be carrying
- pepper spray

The Man Sack is portable, of course, so when my mother in law ends up in the hospital in the middle of the night - just as an example - my Man Sack goes into the waiting room with me to keep me busy and supplied with the basics while I cool my jets all night.

I also have a 25 gallon Rubbermaid bin that stays in the vehicle. It contains various things which I want to have with me on the road, but don't need to (or can't) ride in my Man Sack.

Maxpedition MPB Man Sack; Rubbermaid container.

The 25 gallon Rubbermaid bin contains:

- Sears Portable Power battery jumper. Aside from jumping my myself or others, it provides a backup power source for the cell phone and other electronic devices. Recharged monthly. Has air compressor.
- a DC to AC power inverter, which lets me run AC devices off of the vehicle. The Sears battery jumper also have both AC and DC supply ports.
- military ammo box with tools
- large coffee can with lid, containing a roll of toilet paper. When you have sick kid in the back seat, you be glad to have a container. Could also transport gas or water in pinch.
- heavy duty universal lug wrench; those little ones that come with the spare tire provide no leverage
- spare hats, sunscreen, clothes for kids; change seasonally
- trailer hitch
- comprehensive first aid kit with CPR mask
- PSK
- spare umbrella
- Maxpedition Malaga, black. Contains misc items, and can be emptied and used as required.
- paper towels
- funnel, for adding fluid to radiator or gas tank in a pinch

Edit: I could probably use a 2 gallon or so gas can, but one can only haul around so much cr@p.

I have quite a few of the same things as PowerNoodle in the non knife department. I carry a SOG Seal Pup, Leatherman Super Tool(orginal) dragonfly se, older hatchet, a few
hand tools, an older shovel, and a .357 Taurus in my Tacoma 4x4.

I believe I may have [post=9747257]described these before[/post] . . .

(I supposed, given Noodle's example, I should avail myself of the camera for some documentation.)

I have a fair sized truck box in the back of our SUV. There's a variety of cutting tools in the box.

There's an Estwing camp axe . . .

. . . an Ontario SP8 (short) survival machete (bought used) . . .
Ontario-Spec-Plus-SP8-Machete.jpg

. . . a couple of Rapala bait knives (based on the Mora Scandi knives, but with a serration on the spine for cutting frozen bait) . . .
4_bait_knife.png

. . . a crap Elk Ridge fixed blade (to be replaced with Mora) . . .

. . . and an Opinel #12.

In the truck console I keep the following: a plain edged Buck/Whittaker Short Revolution, a (Forest Service surplus) Kershaw 3140 folder, a stainless Case Sod Buster Jr, a Case Blackhorn, an EKA/Rapala folding fillet knife, a Mora Craftline fixed blade, and a compact diamond steel (or two). Oh, and a Light My Fire spork, or maybe two, and a Knork (yes, really). Oh, and in the glove box there's a Wenger Evo S10 SAK.

The truck box is a fixture in whatever vehicle is my regular commuter.

The Jeep console holds a Mora #511 fixed blade and an EKA Super Swede folder.

All of these are dedicated vehicle knives.

There's also a "portable kitchen," a tool box that holds a collection of utensils, can openers, a multitool, kitchen knives, picnic knives, hobo knives, a couple of Mora knives, Rapala (EKA) folding fillet knife, cutting board, a Gerber Harsey Hunter . . .
Gerber-Harsey-Hunter.jpg

. . . and a bunch of other things. The portable kitchen has been through a number of revisions. (Had more knives; I'm sure you're shocked.) As we've used it on various trips, I've watched what actually gets used and what's missing when I need it. After some refinements it's actually useful.

The stuff in that box isn't dedicated to any one vehicle, but to trips of any distance requiring several hours on the road.

That's a lotta gear. I have a Vic Craftsman and whatever I have on me. Used to carry a Becker Tac-Tool, til I broke it. Need a replacement.
