what's your experience with cheap #$(#* knives?

Yea, just get a locking Oppy. Non locking will cause you to lose a few fingers due to loose pivots

STAY AWAY FROM JAGUAR AND ANY OTHER CHINESE KNOCK OFF KNIVES. After almost taking off my hand after the lock broke on a large Spyderco knockoff folder, I decided to start buying well made production knives. Everybody joans on Frost, but they're a good brand, if you're going to leave a knife in your kitchen or office drawer, or in your truck or car. Other than that, go for the good stuff.

a cheapy card knife ive kept in my back pocket for years; good for small cutting chores and its all one piece so im not worried about it breaking on me. has a bunch of other tools on it so it comes in handy quite a bit :)

I've had more than my fair share of cheap knives. I've loved knives since I was a little kid, but didn't get into quality (cheap vs inexpensive) knives until a few years ago. My favorite though was a nice piece a friend of mine picked up from Chinatown.

Sight unseen, he said he was going to C-town and if I wanted anything. I asked for a long-ish folder, tanto point with a black handle. The knife he came back with was perfect. Great lock up, solid construction. Best cheap knife I'd ever seen, on par with inexpensive quality knives in every way except for the steel choice (china 440). Never rusted or failed. Sad sad day when I lost it. I miss that thing. I've been trolling C-town every now and again looking for another, just for old time's sake.

There are enough good quality inexpensive knives out there that there is no need to ever purchase some cheap crap.
