What's your favorite blade style? Why?

I like both the Drop Point and Clip blade myself. The Drop Point especially, it seems so useful for the stuff I use a knife for.

I seem to love recurved blades the best. REKAT Sifu, Camillus EDC,Benchmade AFCK, and to the extreme all of my HI Khukuris. I just love these blades!!!!! They all seem to have that same shape in one form or another that truly appeals to me. As for the reason. Well my recurved blades all seem to have the seeming ability to cut like a much longer blade, due to that sweet spot, (the belly).

I like to carry a serrated sheepsfoot blade and a plain edge clip point. The sheepsfoot is strong, and I like the rounded tip when I need to cut something with a sawing motion. The clip point covers general puncturing and slicing. This combination has always worked well for me.

Another useful shape is my Benchmade 160. I don't even know what to call it - it's maybe a very short, wide Wharncliffe, with a slightly recurved edge. It has a convenient thumb perch which makes the short blade easy to guide. Unfortunately, I can't use that one at work, since it is a fixed blade. Great for weekend use though.

One other thing, I LOVE the look of recurved blades but have never purchased one because they look like a nightmare to sharpen(on a bench stone) Are they hard to sharpen???

Aesthetically, I like the drop point. Utility... a clippoint/recurve combo, ugly, but very useful.

My favourite shape is definetely the tanto. I just love the tip strength, and overall strength. And it looks awesome.

generally wharncliffe or drop point with recurve, although i tend to like just a non recurved drop point on fixed blades. With folders i really wanna get the most out of my blade length.

Clip Point with lots of belly...

It's easier to answer by saying I like every blade shape except for the Tanto. I will avoid a knife simply because it has a tanto blade. All others get consideration.

The khukuri. My latest obsession in the world of knives. My coworkers cant figure out why I would pay good money for bent knives...

Going to have to admit my newbie ignorance here, but what exactly is the Wharncliffe shape?

Spear points are my favorite, but I like the appearance of American Tantos the best.

photo Here is an example of a Wharncliffe. Keep in mind the profile is what I'm referring to, not the blade grinds.

The blade style I like..no question... gotta be the sword blade... here are just a few in my too large sword collection
