What's your favorite budget centerfire rifle scope?

I have found Nikon to give the most performance for the $$. Their Buckmaster line is excellent, and can be found for under $200 for the popular variables, when on sale.

I agree with the Nikon and the Buckmaster line. Vortex Diamondback is good too. I like the Buckmaster better.

After a bit of reading and searching reviews, I came across the Primary Arms 4-14x44 MilDot FFP for right about $200. It is a Chinese made, but to specs from an american company. I don't often trust reviews of scopes from a single range day or week of hunting, but after reading a review with updates after 1 year and more of use I was convinced. Being a first focal plane Reticle makes ranging with the mildots easier and also click are in mils.

44mm front objective, 30mm tube, side focus and price all seem to be what I would like. Will report back once the money is on the table though, things could change.

Get a used Leupold Gold Ring and be done with it. That lifetime warranty belongs to whomever owns the scope at that time and is truly a no BS warrantee.

Redfield is made by Leupold.
Redfield shut it's doors in the USA in 1998. In 2008, Leupold & Stevens bought the Redfield name while Redfield products were being made in China. Todays Redfields are made (assembled) in the USA as well as the Philippines. Regardless today's Redfields do not compare to those of yesteryear. For Redfield, I'd first recommend a scope from the Denver manufacturing era/Denver vintage (1998 and before).
