I know it's not an easy question, but which Emerson is your favorite of the ones you have owned and used? Which one would you like to own?

Of the models I have owned it is a very close race. I guess I would have to say the CQC-7V, because it has had more pocket time and actual use than any others, so there must be a reason for that. Although, my ETAC is pretty awesome, just haven't had it that long. So let's go with the 7V on this one.

Of models I have not owned, I am really lusting for a GJ, and a Persian.

So how about you? Discuss...:)

Of the ones I have owned, that would be a horseman several versions of the 7 a Commander and a Tiger I have to say the Commander followed by the 7. The Tiger is an awesome knife with GREAT ergos in the handle however I can't bring myself to really USE a signed model so I don't really know how I would like it with moderate use.

Carried a cqc7 my entire time I was active duty in the army so it has its place to me, and let me tell you guys who doubt emersons , don't just don't and trust me on that one.

I don't do safe queens right now I'm beating on a cqc 8 that eki knows has a lock problem (95% lockup and 2 weeks old) but the lockup is tight and we both agreed just to wait till I get play then they will fix it.

I've owned pretty much the whole emerson lineup except the 13,Persian, GJ, and gypsy jack , my favorite was my early 6 I got from a seal team but the knife had too much history for me so I gave the guy his blade back, maybe one day I'll get another real 6 , (no po boys here) or I'll settle for a Persian.

That's cool! I love knowing that these knives I love so much can really live up to their rep. I have no need any more to hard use a blade, but the whole time I was active duty I rocked a Buck 110 for 10 years, and I used it hard, and I mean abused it. It never failed me, and it was easy to sharpen back to shaving sharp.
I wish I still had that knife.

Unfortunately EKI did not exist back then, and I didn't know enough about knives to even consider a custom.

Keep rockin' the new 8, and thanks for your service.

I have really limited experience but I carry my CQC 7 and now the CQC7V the most. That said I really enjoy my mini CQC15 the ergos and the grind on that knife are incredible I can't fault it for anything. It probably fits my hand better than any knife I have ever owned.

Thus far I have or have had at least one of all the following:
Commander in mini, reg & super; 7 in mini, reg & super; 8 in mini & reg; 10; 11; 15 in mini & reg; Karambit in reg & super; Roadhouse in mini, reg & super (the super will arrive monday); Journeyman; mini A-100; Persian; ETAK-B; Gypsy Jack; Gentleman Jim; Bulldog; Zealot; Tiger; EDC2

As for favorite? Really, really hard to say. For badassery, I am a big fan of the Roadhouse and the Persian (Gypsy Jack honorable mention). For all around utility, the Ten has seen the most usage, while the Journeyman and the Zealot are really good at a lot of tasks (honorable mention to the mini-8 Horseman). Kbit's are comforting for self defense roles (nasty little critters they are). For utility with a bit more "tactical" flavor, the Tiger and 15 are very good designs. And for blow-your-mind ergo's, I'll take the Commander series (honorable mention to the Tiger). Discreet edc would be 100 domain. Easiest carrying big knife would be Gypsy Jack.

So, it really comes down to what you want your knife to do/be. If I were truly pressed for a singular model, and it had to do it all, for me it would probably be the Zealot. Or Tiger. Or Commander...

Of my Emersons so far, my favorite is the Horseman. It fits my hand way too well; almost feels like a custom to be honest. Ergonomic shaped blade and I've put it through some tough cutting and it still begs for more. I just got a Roadhouse in, but the Horseman still takes it for my favorite.

CQC-13 is my favorite. Blade DESIGN familiar to me already 30 years :)
School, military service, extended service ..

For me, the fav is my mini-CQC15. I'm warming up to my 7AW, but the mini-15 is still the perfect Emerson "all-rounder" to me. I still really want to find a good Mach-1, though.

greetings all,
would have to be my cqc-7 line up. mach-1 would be a close second. the 7's just fit me like a glove. big enough for what I use and small enough not to be left behind. my cqc-8 and commander are nice but just a little large for what I need today in a knife today.
" like member "edibis" said, I too carried a buck 110 in nam. the only thing that didn't rust there. no heroics with the knife but beat the hell out of it. worked great. back then there wasn't much to choose from. today, my choice to take would be the cqc-7.
best to all for a great new year.

I love my 7V, it's been my EDC for over 6 months now. If you knew me, you'd know that is saying something.

I served from '88 to '98 and your right, before that there were not a lot of choices other than the Buck 110.But if the newer ones are as tough as my old one was, I would carry one with confidence. If I knew back then what I know now, and EKI existed before '94, I would have had a 7.

Persian is a model that I really regretting buying few years ago at a knife show. All models I checked out were done really good with perfect fit and finish. The only thing that keeps me from buying few Emerson knives now is most dealers have tanto models that I do not really like and find usefull and do not want to order it online(due to some lock issues).Ill get couple Emersons in few weeks hopefully and regrind them little.Cant wait@!

Why did you regret buying the Persian?

I have a handful and I think my CQC15 serrated is my favorite. Good piercer, slicer and great looking to boot.

I own the Micro Commander; the Mini Commander and have just ordered the Mini CQC-15. So far my favorite EDC is the Micro Commander.

Amici,
For me, the commander series all the way from the micro to the super.

Cheers,
Serge

It is amazing how the commander fits in any size. Masterpiece.

Today, I found my happy spot in a Custom Super Roadhouse - wondered if it would be too much, but it's not.
