Looking for ideas for my next folder so I thought I'd ask what your all time fave is. Custom, high end, low end production, it doesn't matter I'm just curious. And tell me why you pick that one.

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

I don't know what size you want, but is you are interested in 3", these are my favorites:

$30 or Less: CRKT Lightfoot large Urban Shark

$50 Spyderco Native or Calypso Lt. Wt.

$100 Benchmade 705 Axis Lock

$290 Plain Small Sebenza.

All of these are very solid and well made knives.the only difference lies in their site of manufacture (ex. Taiwan, USA, or Japan), and the materials from which they are made. For example: the Urban Shark is great but is the blade is Aus 6.

Favorite daily carry at work is a plain old BM AFCK.I've beat the crap out of this knife and it keeps coming back for more.
Outside of work favorite everyday carry is a Spyderco Shabaria. It's just plain sexy and useful open or closed.
For something nicer my favorite carry is a WH pearl Lancet or something by Elishewitz depending on the size I feel like carrying.
All time favorite and yet never used would be the Spyderco Civilian. It's just absolutely viscious looking.Everybody who has ever seen it has always taken a step or two back.

Can't go wrong with an AFCK. It sure is tough and cuts well. I am looking at the new Benchmade 940 though...

And your opinion is important because......?

Try the Benchmade 720. I carry one every day and it is a great knife. I like a plain blade better than serrated.

Wow, He just asked a question, which was related to knives.....

Mykl Clark:

Right now it would have to be the BM910SBTCG, but who knows when the 940 comes out.

All the knives in the world go round and round, round and round, round and round...DAMN, one of them took my wallet !!! :)

CRK Sebenzas are excellent knives, the Spyderco Wegner and Wegner Jr. are top notch, the Benchmade models # 720 and 730 and the classic AFCK are all good users.

What are your wants and needs?

Mine is the Spydie Native, plain, lightweight.

That may change when I finally get a Sifu (maybe a Carnivoure). Wait and see.

The current Sifus in ATS34 are contenders even if you're into utility; ergos are good, lock is excellent, blade is freakin' huge

.

As a fighting folder, it's the current king.

When they ship (soon) in D2-M steel, and if the modified D2 performs as early indications show, it could become the absolute standard in functional folders.

Yeah, this is a question that has been asked over and over......and it would make sense to do a search and find those old posts.....if we never bought new knives that may be now our favorite knife?

So these kind of threads may seem redundant but if we only bought one knife we wouldn't be up so late checking out these threads...

My favorite knife has changed since the threads of old, have two at the moment that are my favorites, kind of a tie so to speak,
Stag handled White Winger with CPM3V blade, wharncliff blade, slip joint style, nice sharp knife!
The other is a wood inlay small Sebenza, very pretty wood, and comfortable in the hand as well as the normal Chris Reeve quality you would expect.

So starting a thread like this every month or so will net new favorites I'm sure, if I had the money, the one knife that I'd love to get is the Tim Herman Sliver, love that Wharncliff blade and his knives, as rough as he often sounds, are beautiful to behold!

So bring them on, it's one way to perhaps find that next favorite folder out there!

I wouldn't have even said anything if it hadn't have been done just a few weeks ago.

My pick hasn't changed in getting on five years. Benchmade AFCK. I had a bit of a panic this weekend when I thought I'd lost my favorite AFCK. Oh, I have several (I always backup things that are essential). But, there is the one that is somehow special, that I usually carry, and it came up missing when I emptied my pockets at the end of the evening. Well, I assumed that I dropped it while pruning roses, so I went out and checked my rose garden. Nothing. I must have dropped it while throwing away the rose trimmings. So, I emptied my garbage can out. Nothing. I must have dropped in while taking my evening walk round the neighborhood. I retraced my walk. Nothing. My heart was breaking as I imagined somebody else with my AFCK. I resolved to take out an ad in the newspaper, offer a reward, trade a brand new AFCK for my old favorite. Then, I went out into the living room and there it was on the floor. My AFCK! My beloved AFCK! I must have dropped it along the way somehow. What was lost is now found. I felt like the woman in Luke 15:8-10. So, my friends, rejoice with me for I have found my lost AFCK and such joy as there in heaven when a lost soul repents.
