I did a search for this question and came up empty.

I am curious what is your favorite type of handle material on a knife? For example Carbon Fiber, G10, Micarta, Wood, Etc. Also would love for people to elaborate further. Do you like it smooth, textured, lined, checkered etc? Any details and why you like it would be awesome. Pictures would be even more awesome. Show off some of those custom made and special to you scales out there!

Canvas micarta remains my favorite because it has much of the warm, organic feel of wood but the toughness of composite materials. It's also nice and grippy without being abrasive, which is a rare combination.

For me it depends on the knife and purpose, but in general i am really starting to like titanium. I like when it wears and shows "character" and use. also titanium means framelock for the most part which i like more than liner or lockback and most other types of locks.

All depends, I like titanium on folders and grippy g10 and micarta on fixed blades.

I like paracord so I can wrap over all those scales for my giant arthric XL hands.

I love carbon fiber. Looks beautiful, wears nice and the smooth stuff doesn't collect dirt like grippy g10 does.

+1. My sentiments exactly.

Sure, I love my titanium framelocks, but I really like this moonglow G10 from Spyderco. . It has a nice smooth feeling and is not slippery to my hand, and of course, I enjoy the fact that it lights up so great. It is special. It has something that my titanium, carbon-fiber, and "other" G10 doesn't offer.
I suppose this makes sense since I spent 35 yrs working in Radiation Physics, but, of course, anyone can enjoy this stuff. :)

I like leather wrap and wood on fixed blades. Paracord if I'm trying to be showy on something.

On folders I Iike titanium slab, G-10 and wood where I can find it. I find carbon fiber to be aesthetically plain and not the best for grip. I also like the aluminum/wingwalk tape combo handles of some of the tacticals.

I prefer carbon fiber on my folders because it is definitely aesthetically pleasing but I also like G-10

Cool Pic!

Definitely Canvas Micarta. Warm feel, grippy even when wet and tough. Haven't found a better material for user knives. Add some grooves to the handles (like TOPS Rocky Mountain tread) and its the perfect knife handle for me.

Other stuff like carbon fiber may look nicer, but it just doesn't work as well.

Fixed blades.
Stag or nice woods, DI, walnut, curly maple, blackwood.
Green or black canvas micarta, suitably finished G10.
