What's Your Favorite Kershaw And Why?

The Volt is nice and slim but packs a lot of blade. solid frame-lock and i dig the low rider clip on it.

The Ram, because it feel right has a great lock mechanism, steel, grind, looks as tough as it is, and is fun to flick open....

I’ll second the RAM, its one solid knife for the price:thumbup: Something I haven’t seen posted here that I like about it so much, is the fact that it can be opened/closed in many different ways. The thumb studs are actually usable (something not too common on a flipper knife) and make for a nice slow easy open for when about the sheep. The flipper is super smooth and reliable deploys the blade every time (even pinky finger flips are easy as pie). And lastly, you can hold down the lock and flick the blade open or closed just as you do with a Benchmade axis lock.

The RAM is the only Kershaw that’s in my EDC rotation, and I don’t see it getting booted out anytime soon. One GREAT knife!

EDIT: Forgot to say I’ve also got a ZT 0350 in my rotation; another fantastic knife for the money!

I only have a few kershaws, Green Ti bump, which is at warrenty right now, JYD composite, which i really like sans the clip, but my most used and carried, it is my work knife, is an older whirlwind that has 440c.

I'm a huge RAM fan (have owned two, also got a MUDD) but you're the first person I've heard to like the thumbstud design.

I can't say I really have a favorite out of the few I have. I really like my Breakout.

I dig the heck outta my Cyclone.

My S30V Blem-Blur doesn't seem to know she's a Blem, and I can't tell either, except for the four x's printed on the blade.

All three of these little ladies seem to get along fine and are willing to share my pocket(s) together or alone, however it works out on any given day.

'Course, can't leave out my Spec Bump. Gotta love this knife, but still can't say it's more "favorite" than the others.

I do favor the Spec Bump and the Blur just a tiny bit because of the S30V blade steel, but for normal use, EDC types of tasks, any of 'em will do fine for me.

Oh, almost forgot my most beastly Kershaw, the Outcast. If I had to leave the house with only one of these, I guess it would have to be the Outcast, so I reckon that makes it my favorite.

I have many Kershaws, the one I like most is the Skyline, I've had so much good experience with it, it's also my 1st Kershaw, I think it's a great knife. And also for EDC carry, I don't prefer the speed safe design, because it might open by itself, I've had my Leek opened by itself in my jeans pocket once, fortunately I didn't cut myself, and sine then I always keep the safty on when putting it inside the pocket, but by doing so, it actually makes the assist openers slower than manual knives...

The OD-1 for me. Opens super fast with a nice clunk sound. It is a frame lock with tip up or down option. With flippers I seem to prefer tip down carry. Not sure why.

There fine by me as an alternative way to open the blade. Now, if they were the only way to open the RAM, I’d probably be singing a different song.

I was just noting that they do in fact work fine for opening when other methods are less desirable.

And I still need to get my hands on a MUDD!!!

Yeah, I definitely appreciate the option to open slowly. That's one of the things that makes the RAM so great--it's everything for everyone. Want an assisted opener without fear of offending most assisted/switchblade laws? Just use the flipper, it's just as easy and fast. Or how about a full manual one hander...got the thumbstuds for that.

This is such a hard question to answer and I do not have a single favorite. I can't pick just one. So my top three in no order are as follows.

The Volt -- Just an excellent design by RJ Martin and Kershaw hit a grand slam with the production. Fantastic blade steel with the M390 cutting edge and CPM D-2 spine. The flipper works extremely well and is smooth as butter. The machine grooved scales are very good looking and symmetrical. The G-10 insert in the front scale is perfect. You can't even feel the seam where Ti ends and G-10 begins. The addition of the Hinderer lockbar stabalizer to the framelock is just one of those little extras that make the knife that much better. The clip caused a bit of concern when I first received the knife, but since has become a clip I like very much. Deep carry and nearly non-existent. IMHO this knife is as close as you're going to get to a custom RJ Martin without getting an actual RJ custom. One of Kershaws finest offerings.

Ti/ZDP-189 Mini Cyclone -- Another design by a custom maker (Ken Onion) that Kershaw did a perfect job on. A nice tight package that offers an excellent blade steel, the option of having A/O on or off, and the beauty of a Ti framelock. I really like having both a flipper and thumbstuds on my knives so of course I dig the Mini Cyclone. The Mini Cyclone is my definition of a little "big" knife.

Ti/SG2 JYD II -- The JYD II is one of my top three favorite knife designs of all time. Tim Galyean produced the near perfect knife to me when he produced the JYD II. Kershaw offered up the same knife with a rarely used steel which just blows me away. The matching of the SG2 laminated blade with a thick Ti framelock makes this knife a must have, especially at the prices they can be found for. The laminated blade looks nice as is, but adding a satin finish really makes it pop. The only thing I find at fault with this knife is the giant clip and how it is placed.

If you include Zero Tolerance then it would be the 0551. Strictly Kershaw, then id have to go with the Shallot, although I want to get my hands on a Ti Tyrade and the ZDP Cyclone. Although, I can't wait for the new ZT/Hinderer flipper and the Knockout.

This is one that would not only be my favorite Kershaw if I owned it, but certainly in the top 2 or 3 of all-time favorites of any brand. I really don't know how I missed the boat on this one. Wasn't even aware of it until fairly recently. I think I saw it in a "Pics of Your Framelocks" thread or something like that. I'm gonna have me one of those someday.

Does anyone else love the Lahar as much as I do? It's my favorite despite what I wish it had. (shallow clip, lanyard hole) My Shallot would be #2.

Kershaw line would be my S60V Krein regrind (eliminated the recurve) green handled Blur:thumbup: I removed the assist spring to convert it to a manual knife and that was the icing on the cake:D

ZT line would be my lightly modded 0500 MUDD, Stripped the black from the liners, added a choil, polished the main pivot bolt and thumbstud:thumbup:

My favorite is the Leek, probably because it's the only one I have.

I had a cheaper model a few years ago, the Chive, maybe; now the TSA has it. I had it exactly one year, Christmas to Christmas.

I prefer the Leek anyway for its speedsafe opening.

Hands down the Volt. For all the reasons Tony8179 listed. I also love my ti framelock Speedform.:)

Funny thing is that I had decided to skip on both of these..............before finally coming to my sense's!!

I love the Needs Work and the JYD II, I EDC always one of them. Nice blade shape, good steel, solid build... ;)
