I have a few different Leathermans from the original to a Squirt, I had a Wave in fact I had two 'cause I liked 'em so much, till I was usin' the pliers on one and dropped it when it hit the grround the main blade opend a little and when I picked it up and went to squeeze the handles and the blade cut me on my last two fingers.

I gave both of 'em away that day with a warning to the new owners about what happened to me but neither one listened and were more than willin' to take the multi-tools for free.

Now I use only my Supertool, I'm thinkin' of maybe checkin' out a discontinued Supertool 200.

To date I've yet to break one or had to send it in for warranty issues of any kind,

Gotta add my weekday EDC: a hybrid between SOG Pocket Powerplier and Paladin Tools Powerplay PT-510.

Come to think of it, mine is also a hybrid. Great minds...

I know, I know Gerber MP400

They don't get much love here - I admire your courage! The 400 and 600 series are classics...at least in my opinion.

Its not fair on the Spirit to have its variations split up, when f.e. the Skeletool has its variations in the same box.

I can only speak for the models I own(ed) of course. For EDC I prefer the Juice S2, fits nice in the pocket. For full size I prefer my Charge ALX.

I voted LM Core. I use one at work everyday. This is about as heavy duty as it gets. I don't mind the weight for what I get in return and it is much easier to use than my Vic Swiss Tool.

My Leatherman Wave is hands down the best Leatherman-type multi-tool I have owend. I love it. Now I need to get one in Black Oxide.:D

I voted Charge since I carry an Xti, or a Cabela's Tti every day due to tool needs, but my favorite one is, & always will be the Sideclip!

:D

So I guess the exposed gear teeth bother you too. I was browsing for the PT-510, and I found a closeout sale online for $15! I can't not buy it, considering it's close to $50 everywhere else.

I switched the pliers with SOG's sharper one. I also switched the knife with a can opener so it's school-legal. Before this when I visit schools I had to leave everything in the car and felt naked.

Old style Wave for me. I even have a backup.I like the way it has springs like a slipjoint instead of the newer friction type opening.

When using the inside tools, I like the grip with the covers better. I don't know why SOG hasn't added the covers to their Pocket PowerPlier. By the way, they improved the pliers on Pocket PowerPlier within the last year... this last summer, I bought a new one and the pliers have a chiseled tip and sharper wire cutters.

The photo that I posted is old. I've swapped out the blade for their (razor sharp) plain edge blade.

The glass is half full, not half empty. ;) Listing the SwissTools and SwissTool Spirits separately gives more information about them. And you can always add them up, of course.

Grouped even further:

If it is unfair to anyone, then it is unfair to the other brands -- they have many more multi-tools that could have been listed instead of being relegated to the "other" category.

Even with the SwissTools and SwissTool Spirits listed separately, Leatherman multi-tools are a majority of the listed choices. They make a lot of multi-tools.

Brand representation in the poll choices:

I noticed that most people only chose one although multiple choices were allowed.

This isn't a contest but the few that chose more than one typically chose more than one multi-tool from Leatherman (9 out of 14 that chose more than one) and those that chose more than one brand typically chose a Leatherman and a multi-tool from another brand.

Those are some beauties!

I don't understand either. All the other models have gear covers, and if they can make it for Paladin I don't see why they can't adopt it as standard. Using the exposed gear model as a screwdriver is painful without gloves.

Mine is a recent model with chisel tip:

I put the Paladin pliers into the standard Powerplier handles and use it as weekend in-town EDC. Since I always carry a separate folder, the combo blade is actually a nice complement.

I didn't find the closeout sale but I bought just bought a couple more for a few dollars more. I'm going to SOGify them... or maybe use some parts from some of the other versions. SOG also manufactured the Pocket PowerPlier for Master Mechanics. And there are some very similar multi-tools from Stanley and Harley Davidson. All of them have interchangeable parts.

That sheath was one of Leatherman's best. I'm still a fan of the original Wave also.

i've Wave, Surge & Charge XTI but it's Charge XTI gets more EDC time to date. However, things might change as i just got the Swisstool RS recently, which start growing on me :p

I EDC a (new-style) Wave, so that one must be my favorite.:).
I'm going to have to update this to the Leatherman Surge...It's sort of a more heavy-duty Wave...It's bigger & heavier than the Wave, but that's a good thing...
