Damn That's A Serious Knife!

Nice8)

Absolutely: the BM Skirmish!

Carries like a smaller knife, get's "mega" when opened, great ergos, rock solid frame lock, really a cut above most factory knives.

crawford perfigo or ralph maxx is my favs.

fav production would be a cuda maxx.

worst? rekat sifu, the inertia from the 5.5" blade just seems to kill rolling locks, been my experience anyway.

Can you imagine a framelock? The basic blade + handle was wild. :D

These guys are calling any big, strong folder a mega-folder, but we used to use the term for at least a 5" blade. Not that many around.

I've got a 5" clip point Voyager and a 5" Gunsite (tanto). Very impressive side by side. Then I lay my Madd Maxx dagger next to them and they look like toys.

My mega-folder is a Cold Steel Vaquero Grande. Or was that an espresso macchiatto grande from Starbucks? Both were serrated.

imho the sifu woulda been a winner with any kinda lock which actually worked, liner lock, frame lock, even a lock back lol, i loved the kn ife just hated the lock, i still laugh when i think of REKATs mantra about the rolling lock being "the lock of the 21st century" lol.

i've had a few cammilus maxx's, and a 3 ralph maxx's, they are a great design, well made, and the cammilus version was pretty darned close to the ralph version in most every way, i have a ralph maxx dagger and when compared to a cammilus maxx dagger they were close, very close to the same thing, of course the F&F on the ralph was better though, but as far as size, thickness, etc very very close.

The Team leader is quite a nice handfull of knife, this knife should never have gone out of production. They should bring it back as big folders are popular today.

I have just returned from a holiday in France and bought a carbon steel number 12 Opinel while I was there.
It's a large folder, 6 1/4 " closed with a 4 3/4 " blade.

I didn't have my sharpening kit with me, but managed to get it sharp enough to breeze through bagettes by stropping on a copy of L'Ouest France newspaper smeared with toothpaste. :D
When I got home I reprofiled the blade to drop point and sharpened it up with my Sharpmaker and strop.

The 12VRN Opinel is a big, inexpensive folder that cuts well above its price.

I would go with CS Ti-lite 6" its a monster. if i carry a a knife in that size it would be for self defence and not for every day work and The ti-lite is one super defence blade imo

X2 Voyager and 6" Ti-Lite, currently, though I may replace both with a Vaquero Grande and a new aluminum handled 6" Ti-Lite. Aussie Killing Spree or no, I love these knives! :D

What makes the Voyager X2 a better knife than a Vaquero? Having carried and used both, I find the X2 to be a little more conventional, but if pressed to choose between the two, I think the recurved blade would offer some advantages as a cutter; however, you definitely get more of a tip for thrusting in the X2. Still, the Vaquero can penetrate with forward thrusts almost as good. Of the two, I think I'd go with the Vaquero Grande.
