What's Your Favorite Pocket Gadget (Keep it Clean!)

My Palm IIIc PDA. With pdatoolbox.com I can create custom made programs. With a little extra effort, I can convert my PDA programs to work on the desktop. ;)

But I don't hide it in my pockets, oh, no. I prefer to wear mine as a necklace for that rugged, he-man look (on barbed wire, of course)
Now, if I could only keep it from pulling out all of that chest hair...

Ouch! Yes, the very reason I can't wear stuff on a cord under my shirt. Yikes, that hurts.

Anyone carry a Cybertool 34 in Khakis? How bulky is it?

I do. I have both the CyberTool 34 and 41. I carry the 34 in my front jeans or khakis pockets. I have no problems.

The 41 is a wee bit bulky for that, although I could get used to it. The 41 currently rides on my belt.

My favorite pocket gadget is not, believe it or not, a pocketknife. It is my Swiss-Tech MicroPlus.

I am always using it to tighten, unscrew, grasp, pry, poke, prod, jab, etc. I'm glad it lacks a blade because I can take it with me on jury duty or even an airplane.

There's a lot of discussion in this mammoth thread:

EDC - What's in Your Pocket(s)??

This is my normal out of the house EDC -

I actually use my digicam (an "ancient" Canon S100 Digital ELPH) a lot - it averages at over 45 shots/day, 365 days/year - I just checked, my last image was IMG_2354.JPG in folder 523CANON - this means that camera has taken 52,354 shots since I bought it in Aug/2000 - 3 years ago.

If I had to buy to replace I would probably wait (which I'm doing), or look at the newer 4Mp Canon S400 Digital ELPH - (in my case portability is a very important aspect)

I also find the flashlights very useful as I am often in dark environments and need a shot of light to see.

CMG Ultra-G single AA battery white LED

Photon II yellow - tiny - yellow seems to give me good compromise of being able see well - good definition/contrast and disturbing my dark adaption minimally -

I guess none of you carries a ZIPPO LIGHTER?!

Finest "pocket gadget" there is. It's shockproof, never runs out of batteries, doesn't depend on some bullsh*t 'network', it's even EMP proof!

Try starting a cooking fire with your damn PDA! :D

I've always wanted one, but they dry out, don't they? The disposables don't dry out. I had an old Zippo once that I bought at a flea market, but you could always tell when I was carrying it because you could smell the lighter fuel.

They dry out, true, but it takes several days for this to happen. Filling a Zippo the right amount is somewhat of an art, perfected over time. Once you have the knack, you can fill a Zippo lighter and not have to do so again for almost a week.

I don't know what you're talking about with regard to people knowing you were carrying it. Mine does not smell until and unless I take it out and light it. Yes, then the fuel can be smelled, but not when the lighter is sitting in your pocket.

The Zippo has the advantage over the plastic butane lighters of being crush-proof; reliable; made in America; and simple. It remains my favorite pocket gadget.

You may laugh at this, but do they make a piezoelectric model?

No, and I don't think they could -- I can't think of any practical way to ignite a wick with a piezoelectric spark.

Used to carry a Zippo, but the thing would irritate the hell out of my leg right after I filled it up. Ruined a couple pairs of pants. Now it a Windmill Delta. No problems ever.

Hard to pick a single favorite. EDC is a Fisher SpacePen with/in their business card holder, an ARC AAA-HA, Vic Rambler in one pocket, Squirt S4, Photon 2, Sliver Grippers, older square-bodied green glowring, and 2 of Ryan's aluminum spy capsules, all linked together, in the other pocket, along with an AFCK.

a nokia 3650 (what a superb phone with its camera and video recorder),a victorinox swisstool (ive carried it for 3 1/2 years , first i had a LM pst then a gerber scout which i broke the awl on ).Sometimes a mini mag and until i gave up smoking 6 weeks ago a zippo.

Thanks for the PryBaby mentions! :) It is one of my favorites as well. Here's a little something that was made as a goof....it's pretty rough and not for sale. Not sure what to call it, either the PryBali or BabySong:

My favorite pocket gadget is probably the SF E1e. I have many other flashlights and lots that are brighter but that one just feels so darned nice to me.

Peter: Why did you have to stop making the PryBaby's!? Now I have to scour the secondary market for one!

I carry a ruby red Windmill lighter. How do you feel about those?

The web site says only "Sold Out." There is no mention of having ceased production. If they are still being made, I want one.

I believe he made a statement to the effect that he has stopped producing them.
