What's your favorite slipjoint of all?

I have always liked the shape of the Barlow. However I just purchased a Queen Gunstock. Not as smooth looking as the Barlow shape, but good looking too. I will have the Gunstock tomorrow. Can't wait!

I know exactly what you mean by "fondle" factor. I know the tang on the Russell Barlow doesn't stick up out of the handle when closed. Does it on the Bose?
As a matter of fact it does stick out a bit. I would have preffered that it didn't, but we all know there is no perfect knife. As a bit of a trade off look at the back of the knives when they're open, the Bose looks like one piece, like a fixed blade.

TLC, the Bose is about 6 1/4" open and the blade is 2 3/4"

Damn! That's some fine work on that Bose. A little re-shaping of that bolster could cover up that tang and make it really sweet.

dsvirsky... you mean like the attached?

I only recently have found a few slipjoints to be appealing, and the TBose/Case Saddlehorn Trapper in Bonestag caught my eye...

Yes, it is SS, but the knife lives in my pocket and I ride a bicycle most everywhere I don't walk, so sweat and the Northwest Environment were the primary reasons I stayed with a SS model. Fortunately, this knife has great action, fit'n'finish and enough visual appeal that I can even deploy it around the sheeple!

The Bose style ones with a skinning blade are nice, but personally, I prefer a spey blade
knifeart_1804_43052981

like on this one by J.B. Moore (picture blatantly looted from KnifeArt).

dsvirsky,
That one was the first I had seen of the saddlehorn...I don't have much use for the skinning blade out here...that's why I was drawn to the version TBose did for Case: he did a Persian swept clip instead, and I find that to be more visually appealling to me, and given all the cardboard I go through, it actually works well in my environment... But, it is, afterall, just my persoanl preference...

There's a thread further on down the page about Mooreknives...He makes one like the one you've posted - nice stuff and apparently nice work, too...

Barlow, barlow and...uh....oh yeah, barlow. Love that classic, simple unique one long-bolster look. I collect 'em, but rarely carry 'em 'cause they tend to be heavier than my EDCs (Scallion and SAK classic).

As for my favorite Barlow, there's just soooo many really nice ones. The Russells, both old and new, are hard to beat, but the Schatt & Morgan and Cripple Creek Barlow models are pure quality knives.

My three favorite patterns and my favorite knives within those categories:

1) 4 blade congress (Reese Bose, then Tony, Gene Shadley)
2) Wharncliffe trapper (Tony Bose's signature knife... in A-2)
3) Rogers whittler (Ruple makes the best I've handled although Overeynder and Shadley's look good in the pictures)

Severtecher,

 WOW!!!!

Man, I knew Bill could do that, but I haven't seen one at any of the shows where I've run into him... And an awesome piece of Mammoth Ivory (? I think?) Dang, he does some truly beautiful stuff, and from what I have played with - top notch quality on the fit, finish and walk'n'talk on the blade action...

Teriffic piece!! :D

edited to add a pic of a similar Case knife I'd like to eventually have someone build...

An older Queen Serpentine Jack is what I usually carry, but I really like the older Equal End Pens that were made in abundance in the 30's - 40's by many american companies.

My wife gave me an A.G. Russell Gents Lockback with stag scales and that's my favorite. She also gave me a stag-handled whittler that runs a very close second.

4-blade congress, especially with a yellow handle.

And Victorinox Pioneer Harvester.

Here's a pic of the Queen that seems to always find it's way to my pocket bottom.

I the lost pic, I'll find it.

Found it. :D

I like the sexy shape of the European Copperhead.
Two large blades in a compact space. If only one
of them locked, it would be perfect.

I like my Buck 303 and 301. I like Vic. But the one that gets carried most is my Lone Wolf Loveless Design City Knife.

I'm going to have to say that the saddle horn trapper is my absolute favorite slip joint. Whittlers are up there too.
