I think I'll have to go with the TL29 and the large stockman as #1:

And the Folding one blade hunter (125OT) as well as the regular mercator as #2:

I'd have to say the Peanut for work and a Stockman for weekends and days off. There isn't much these two knives can't do.:D

Tried the peanut, nice but for me a bit too small, tried a whittler that
was a little longer/bigger, nice but still just a tad too small, had the
equal ended cattlemen, nice knife, a little large, sounds like the three bear's
story eh? :)

Also had a dogleg, very nice size and walk and talk was the best I've ever
handled but wanted something a little more pointy.

Looking for one of those Bose/Case whittler's one fellow had offered one but
out of my reach, but I wonder if that would be too large too??

The traditional one I carry now a days is a Case Tuxedo, also small but I like
it, just a little longer than the peanut.

Still looking for a solid traditional to fall in love with ;)

Lately I've been leaning towards the Mini Trappers...
Just seems to be a good size, I like the looks, and I have a weakness for half- stops :D.... I prefer the earlier versions with the shorter spey blade...

A close second would be full size Copperheads.

Then there is always the 6292 & 62032 Jack knives..

I have a fair collection of 18 series Stockmans, but I just don't find myself needing the choice of 3 blades that often, so they really don't see much pocket time...

I carried a Stockman for years and the pattern kind of imprinted itself on me.

The top one is a Camillus/Buck 303 that did the imprinting. The bottom is a 301 that I like a lot.

This one is the Queen Cattle King that is currently imprinting itself. I expect Mark will be along soon with a much better shot.

Very nice show of knives! Right now my favorite in my collection is my H.S.B. equal end jack with O.V.B. etchings. Still looking for my first Trapper.

Gary just my .02 but a GEC # 25 Barlow in stag @ 3'' is really a handful it's surprising how well they feel. They come with 1095 carbon blades a clip & a pen get sharp as the dickens, blades are thin but not overly so make good whittlers and good EDC's. give'em a try...

Has anyone else changed their preference of slipjoint models over the years?
338375, it looks like you are going through what I'm going through. I have always preferred stockmans and I am now preferring trappers.
I'll always have an attraction to stockmans but on edc a small trapper seems to nest the right way in my pocket. I'm also finding the long spey is good for any kind of scraping or cutting in place of the clip that I normally use for scraping.

For me, changing patterns every once in a while kinda lights a new fire...
When I focus on one thing to much for long periods of time, I tend to get burnt out.
I'm sure in time I will change again, but for now the Mini Trapper offers everything I like. As you mentioned too, it just seems to naturally find its place in pocket.
Doesn't mean I won't be picking up any different patterns though :D
Still going through my learning curve...

My choice changed greatly over the years. I went to simpler designs and less blades. I used to carry a stockman, then went to sak's, then simple sak's, then single bladed knives like sodbusters, Opinels, Mercators, and very simple sak's like the bantam.

If I live long enough I just may get back to using a obsidian flake.:D
