What's your favorite Wharncliffe?

I've always enjoyed a straight edged blade like a sheepsfoot, but have recently developed a liking for wharncliffes. I
have a CRKT Mirage, and one of Mike Cooper's neck knives in a wharncliffe, and really like the blade shape for control and detail cutting.

What other knives do you like with this blade shape? I don't care if it's a slipjoint, fixed blade, or whatever, what's a good wharncliffe?

its either this one:

or this one:

or this folder:

here's mine:) I think the only chores it won't excell at are chopping and skinning. I made it out of 3/16 1084 with G10 slabs. Very useful design.

I bought the my wharncliff-knives in the following order:
1. BUCK ECCO big, 2 blades(AUS6??, combo-edge) + Zytel , no clip,
2. Kershaw Double Cross, 2 blades, wharncliff 1", AUS 6A+ Stamina (like wood), no clip,
3. Klotzli 440C, black coated (3")+ Carbon-red with clip(!),
4. Beretta Trident VG10 (2 ") + G10 and no clip,
5. William Henry International Serie with Cocobolo and VG10-Blade (3") with clip-etui
6. Kershaw Random Task Mini, ATS34 + G10, with clip, with Ken Onions SpeedSafe
The WH is for me not a perfect wharncliff, because the blade-line is a bit up-going to the tip.
I am using the knives mostly for carving small and bigg sticks in the woods and opening envelopes,
cutting apples, shortening ropes, etc. and they are very useful for precise cutting - but mostly I like
them because of the extraordinary shape !!!!
My favourites these days are the Klotzli, Beretta Trident and the Double Cross (because of the 2 blades).
Now I am looking for a fixed blade one, e.g. the Spyderco Ronin, but I am not shure, if I will really have
a neck-knife.
But today there is the Kershaw Random Task Mini in the pocket of my shirt, because
I bought it just last Monday. And additional to the Mini Task I have my
BM 690 (Elishewitz, Carbon+Wood, combo-edge) with me in the pocket of my leather waistcoat.
Isn't a good combination for every days use ?

Whitewing Warlock. I've got one in stag, but no picture to share. This one's belonged to G2 a couple of times, and if I'd been smart, I'd have bought it the last time it was posted for sale:

I'm with Nosamk.

For a fixed blade it's a tie between the Ronin, Overlord, and Facilitator.

But the Hybrid is without a doubt my favorite wharncliffe folder!!

Hey Jim_Clifton, are you still bitter over this whole Snody thing?:p Just checking ol' buddy!

I have a CRKT Mirage and use the "dickens" out of it. It is my favorite knife. It is also the knife that gave me the worst cut on my finger that I have ever gotten. Sharp little sucker.
I looked at the double cross but thought it was too small a blade.
Although, it might be PC today not to carry a knife that looks "dangerous"
Adios

Arrrggghhh, you'd have to bring that one up wouldn't you...;)

I still miss her bunches! that was ONE sharp CPM3V bladed knife!

Right now one of my most favourite knives that carries a Wharncliff blade is the Kershaw Double Cross, Double Cross Review Here, check that thread for some good info concerning the knife! I've owned that Double Cross for just about a year now! Going strong!

The other knife that I truly love that is also a wharncliff is my 3" bladed Dobruski, sweet butterfly knife she be!
Dobruski! see it there...

Arrrggghhhh off to lick my wounds for that Warlock, especially since they are no longer made! :)

Gary - put the pirate flag down, and step away from the computer, real slow-like... :D

(So that everyone can be in on the joke)

On-topic: I don't think I've owned any true Wharncliffes, except for the very brief period that I had a Double Cross. Closest I could come to using one would be the BM 940; not a true wharncliffe, but almost there. I carried that knife more than any others I've owned...

Hi, Michael_Aos,
that's a pretty good looking wharncliffe. The blade is 3 1/4 " ? What material is the blade and the scales (ivory?)? Was it very expens.... ?

Hi, martin j , for me the New BM Osborn Two-blades is not really a wharncliffe, as the leek is as well not a true wharncliffe for me.
I like knifes with 2 blades; I have the kershaw Double Cross (with 1 wharncliffe) and the Double Duty and the Buck ECCO. I had the BM in my hand and I liked it and would have bought it, even if the big blade is a tiny bit too long for me (3" is enough), if there was a true wharncliffe.

2.75" ATS-34 blade, fossilized walrus ivory scales.

Sorry - can't seem to take a good picture of it.
