what's your favorite woods knife??

That is a pretty buck, I know those gut hooks must be super popular because im seeing them everywhere now. But I just dont get them. They are used for zipping open deer right? I never had any problem just turning my becker necker upside down and using two fingers. I honestly dont know, do gut hooks have a use besides this one function. Anyway my two favorites are the victorinox OH trekker and the becker necker. Ive had my necker since the very day it was available on the market. Small enough to always have with me, easy to clean, very strong.

I've been using the Buck for a year now. I use the gut hook to cut ropes and straps as well. I'm sure I'll probably find other uses for it in the future. This is my only gut hook knife and I am normally not a fan of gut hooks, but this knife feels damn great in my hand. I have only used it on fish. I didn't get out in the woods for hunting this year.

Cgusek111, I'm not a fan of gut hooks, but I do love the Buck Alpha Hunter!

Walking or overnighting, it's hard to beat the Nimravus or Bravo-1:

That Bravo One is one of the nicest Iv'e seen Stretch !!!

Thanks PitDog! I think they call it green and tan elder burl. Even if the scales were just something mundane, like maybe big horn sheep (HA! that's what I really wanted), the Bravo-1 sure feels good in the hand when hiking around!

Langston302, THAT is a great looking knife! I saved that link for future consideration. Can you give some specs on that knife? (blade thickness, quality of sheath, how it feels in the hand, etc) THanks!

Although lately I've had a hard time leaving the Highland behind:

Maybe I'll just take them all with me.

I agree with Longbow50 on the Vic Trekker. I modified the large screwdriver on mine to make a chisel, similar to what is found on the Swiss Tool. The chisel is more help in the woods, allowing me to refine traps much more quickly and safely.
