Hey guys,
Im new on this site, but I'm a very big fan. I have always found myself stumbling on this forum alot over the years, just by trying to find certain knives, swords, tomahawks, pretty much anything with an edge has always brought me back to this place. I love it  Now my question is, What are your most favorite "TACTICAL" weapons?? Iam a very big fan of tacticals, but sad to say, Iam a rookie when it comes down to it. So as of right now Iam trying to educate myself. But I would just like to see your most favorite tactical edged weapons?? Pics PLEASE... :D

What do you mean by "tactical"?

Tactical, like modern aged. i.e., Scrapizashi, busse knives, m42 tomahawk, hayes knives makes them... type of stuff with paracord wrapped handles, kydex sheaths, some new aged stuff man!! Don't get me wrong I love traditional looking weapons, but the tactical weapons is like no other. Maybe i'm going about this the wrong way?

Maybe you could just call them weapons?

They are just weapons, but they're certain type of weapons. Go to google, and type in Tactical katana or Tactical wakizashi or Tactical tomahawk, better yet type in Tactical knives and you'll find a bunch of different knives that fall under the category "Tactical". Just to get a better understanding of them.

I think "tactical" itself already implies that it will be used in a violent human to human conflict. While I understand what yer saying, I think the word "modern" may be more appropriate.

My favorite modern styled edged weapon (that I actually own) is my Swamp Rat Rodent. I don't edc it on my person, but it is always VERY close. I carry it in a 2Munkeez kydex sheath and trust it to TCB.

So you mean a non-tactical katana is not a weapon?

Yeah I guess "Modern" would be more appropriate, but that just don't do it's justice!! Kay think like this... You have your "Traditional" looking tomahak right:

And then you have the "Tactical" version:

Know what I mean?? They're both weapons that can do damage, but the style and look is pretty different.

So in a sense, it has nothing to do with tactics eh? It's about how it looks, correct?

Hahaaha... yeah I guess, but you have to have a name for how it looks, correct? There for Tactical is the name for how it looks. But maybe I'm wrong?

I'd say modern over tactical, which is a marketing buzzword, that really doesn't describe anything. Or maybe you can say "the ones with lotsa angles and protrusions". ;)

PS. That's a G22 but then I know you're messin' with me. ;)

Thank-you. I just bought a Spyderco p'kal designed for similar techniques; it doesn't possess the impressive style of that knife. I'll google Mark Goldworthy knives.

I have another question. Where have you been able to study the edge in pakal style? I am aware of the Shivworks site but am wondering if there's more information available.

I live in the Philippines and I have some training in eskrima where RGEI is one of the styles we practice. For close in fighting, it's a very strong and versatile method. IMHO, the Spyderco p'kal is one of the best blade profiles for doing damage with this style.
