So, today I was using my large 21 at work and a coworker commented on how sharp it seemed. He then proceeded to tell me about this "knife his dad has" and as the father cut into his steak, his knife cut Through the Glass plate as easily and cleanly as it did the steak.

I am sure that some of you may have heard this same story, but I would like to hear some of the others you have been told.

If someone had told me that story, I would have given back a nasty retort. Silly, and ignorant, besides.

Perhaps the dumbest remark I've heard...was when I had finished sharpening a very dull axe for my buddy. I pretty well ruined a couple of sanding belts...bringing back that axe to a nice edge.
A few days later, I saw him and he mentioned that a neighbor had borrowed his nice sharp axe and had busily chopped up a bunch of bricks into smaller pieces. I thought it was a joke and then found out that it wasn't.
Sometimes the truth is stranger...

A friend of mine went on and on about he had a titanium-bladed knife that cut through the steel of others' knives with a single stroke.

A long time ago, I was told that the tip-lock on my chive would "lock" it and keep the spring assist from going off in my pocket.

A stab in the love-handle later, I concluded I had been lied to:D

Yea, it's generally stuff like this that you hear. The "so sharp it just....." stories can be pretty hilarious. The "info" about Titanium going about out there is just as frightening as it is funny..... I also hear knife people that should know very much better say some pretty daft things too though. :p

I always get told the same story by non knife people for some reason. And it always starts with them telling me about someone they know that has a knife that is so sharp that you cant touch the edge without cutting yourself. I swear its like everyone I know has seen that movie blind fury and its the only part they remember.

"A dull knife is safer because it can't cut you."

"carbon steel knives (and cast iron pans) poison your food"

"Ka-Bars are not so tough, I know a guy who snapped one in half using just his hands ..."

(about to test to see if your knife is sharp, after warning them it is sharp) "yeah ... right, LOL ... it's sharp ..." (followed by) "ohhh! I can see the bone in my finger!"

"I used my dad's knife to cut bricks, and he did not get mad."

"Gerber makes a good knife!"

That they knew someone with a knife so sharp it would cut you "horribly" if you barely touched it.

I had a guy at work the other day tell me he has a really good sharpener at home.... The "pull through" kind....

That's when I knew it was time to walk away.

My brother in laws sisters dad is a cop and he has got a knife (gun) like yours, except his is nicer.

Bought a Leek today at Academy Sports...the half stoned high school aged cashier sees the price ($45) and goes "uhh that little thing is $45...uhh man I see people buy knives for like 10 bucks that are like that long (holds hands up a foot apart)"...I respond "This a lot better knife than most of the junk knives they sell here"...he says "uhh so it can like cut a lof of stuff?"...I respond "yea, something like that." and walk out...

You'll cut your eye out...!

Oh wait... that's bb guns.

I shouldn't admit this on a public forum but here we go... About three years ago I was helping my mom clean out her garage and behind an old brewery barrel in the corner I found my original red rider bb gun from when I was a kid. I shook it and heard the bb's rattle so I took it around the corner and shot it at the stacked wood for the wood stove. I heard a loud ping (the bb hitting one of the metal stacking supports) and instantly felt a sharp pain hit right below my right eye. It wasn't even Christmas!

Had a coworker brag about how this knife he had at home was the sharpest thing he had ever handled. I let him borrow my Spyderco Manix 2 to open a box he told me his knife would have cut right through the contents but wouldn't say a brand. Finally called his bluff and he claimed he had sold it earlier that week.

At least you didn't end up like the guy on here who had either a Chive or Leek go off in his front pocket and didn't notice it at first...What did get him to notice is when he suddenly felt a warm, wet feeling on his leg followed by a (delayed) sharp pain...the warm wetness was blood coming from his scrotum which had just been sliced open by the razor sharp tip of the knife...
