what's your first knife of the new year going to be?

My Spyderco Chinook 3 and JK knives pocket cleaver should arrive soon. I also will be buying a BLBW Skyline and possibly a Scrap Yard Mud Mutt.

I have a Spyderco super blue Stretch on pre-order--I heard it would be out in two weeks.

Below is scheduled to arrive on 01/02/14

Spyderco Paramilitary 2
Buck 110 FG
BRK Zancudo (Orange handle)

First knife of the new year will be an M6 in 01 with black walnut scales and natural micarta pins from Aaron at Gray Wolf. It's my first custom, so I'm wicked stoked!

Nothing. I have far more knives than I need already. I am currently more interested in how to use my cutting tools with a higher level of skill, than just accumulating more. I might even get rid of some.

Im heading on vacation to Maine on the 10th and the 11th. Going to Kittery Trading Post.
Im not sure what knife yet, though. Ill probably bring $200 that wont come back with me as cash. It will be in knife form. :D
I cant decide if I want my first ZT, another high-end Spyderco, replace my "loosening" Victorinox Pioneer, or a Victorinox Farmer.
I also dont own many fixed blades.....
Im thinking ZT/Victorinox.

I have a pair of customs in the works that should be done in the next month or so. One is a new rendition of the Sharpfinger pattern and the other is a new rendition of the old Marbles Ideal pattern. Both are being gifted by very generous Bladeforums makers. This will be my third Sharpfinger design custom, and my second old Marbles pattern riff. The first is my Dall Deweese that I have had for some years and use regularly. I'm really liking these updated versions of antique patterns. Everything old is new again.

My boss handed out gift cards last week, and mine went toward a SOG Vulcan Mini . . . which has now been delayed twice and won't ship until mid-January. Oh well, it didn't technically cost me anything. After that, I'm leaning toward a CRKT Ikoma Sampa.

The Mini Vulcan is a good knife.

I have a traditional slipjoint on the way. That was unplanned. I'll live.

I'm only buying two knives this year after I sell off most of my Benchmades

A Sebenza and some sort of Elishewitz custom

I think they (#44 Barlow from Northwoods) are quite purty and look to be a useful knife. My slippie is in fact a ivory handled #44 and was a very quick decision yesterday. Typically the pricing is above my comfort level. As I said above, I'll live.

This is probably going to be "the year" for me to pick up a ZT of some sort. The 550 is likely candidate.
