i just bought a petzl tactikka +RGB , I've also got a cheap energiser one. What's your choice of headlamp ?

I've used the Petal tactikka for several years. Thats also what I bought for my daughter when she was going to be in the field for a couple of months. They are very durable.

I like my zebra light gets something like 900 max lumens with just a single 18650 battery. Also has some real low settings to save batterys and when you're eyes are adjusted to the dark and u don't need too much light.

Petzl Tikka, I think? It's orange, and what I usually take into the attic.

I was able to get a Snowpeak Mola at a heavily discounted price. The reason I like it is because the 100 lumen LED light bulb swivels vertically to track the movement of your eyes, not just your head:

I think it's a cool concept.

Sarted with a cheap energizer, then an energizer that had a 1/one AA battery pack in the back, loved it, red light and adjustable lumens, 20 to 65. Plenty of light and lasted a long timeat max, days at 20.
Have petzal taktika, like but AAA batterys hard to come by over seas sometime.
I got a black diamond too, one of the all ones that take the camera batterys, nice but batterys are expensive.
My first wa a petzal head lamp back in the late 90s, reg bulb and a 3/three AA battery pack and a red lense for frog gigging, great light but bulbs are getting hard to find.
For the money the cheap AA energizers are hard to beat, JMHO.
Head lamps are a game changer, not sure how i managed before working on cars at night on the side of the road.

Right now I'm really liking my Black diamond Spot. Good balance of runtime and brightness, as I don't do anything that needs heaps of light. In fact I turn it down pretty often, and once you get used to the bump-switch on the side, it becomes very easy to adjust the brightness from map to trail or the like. I've also got a BD Gizmo, an older one, that is great for its weight, and a Fenix hl10 which weights the same as the Gizmo, but is also tougher and more waterproof. Mostly got that one for its size when working at the resort, didn't want to carry a big light all day if I only need it for a few minutes. But it still gets used as a backup light.

Because I'm often in a large group, I've started to really hate headlamps. Mostly because most people instinctively want to light your face when you talk to them, the flashing light modes are really annoying, and the cheaper ones flicker enough that I can catch it in the sides of my vision. But thats just me, I get the kids to hang the lights around their necks, and have started using a lantern for myself. works not bad, but there are a lot of times when a headlamp is awesome. Also not awesome when you see a little glow that is they eyes of a six or eight inch wide Huntsman, Did not want to notice that!

I really prefer single-battery lights, just for simplicity, size and weight. The Petzl eLITE is the exception, only because it’s an awesome headlamp that weights under an ounce and is extremely compact. It’s a permanent resident in my HPG Kit Bag.

My primary headlamp has been a Zebra; very simple and robust designs.

I am trying out a new Fenix headlamp, the HL50. It’s a real nice design and I really like the battery options (CR123/AA). Although I typically use rechargeable batteries, I often prefer CR123 batteries for backpacking and use AA batteries for around the house, camping, and running.

Petzl E-Lite.

I got this tiny little thing as a little backup light, but it is awesome enough to be a main light.

in standardizing my hurricane specific electronics and lights to Sanyo/Panasonic AA Eneloops, I picked up an older version of a Black Diamond Icon on discount.... I has done a good job of keeping the tropical storms away, and gets used for mundane chores

Snow Peak SnowMiner Headlamp/Lantern
It converts from headlamp to lantern by pushing the globe in or out
When the globe is out is luminescent and the globe glows and when the globe is pushed in, the lens is in front of the lamp and becomes a spot
When using it as a headlight it must be pushed in or you will get stray light in your eyes as lots of people complain in review

I used this on my last trip to India in the foothills of the Himalayas
It was at the end of the winter and winter storms made electricity intermittent, so I relied on the flashlight a lot
I has three setting high, low and very low
It worked very well as a headlamp to walk at night on paths, I only used it on low as high was too bright
Very low in spot mode made an excellent reading light or small tasks
Very low in globe mode made an excellent lantern light
The headband has a hook on it so it is very easy to hang and makes it easy to use as a lantern

The 3 AAA batteries give an astounding 140 hours of use on low

A very flexible use light
Very clever design
I am very pleased with it

REI has them reduced price

I am invested in CR123A batts, and flashlights, so I went with the Princeton Tec Remix Pro. I have 1 each in my hunting pack, hiking pack, and edc pack. Great lights!

I love my Zebralight "ZLH602w H602w 18650 XM-L2 Flood" for short distance, it gives you a lit area almost as wide as your vision which is great for walking/hiking and working with your hands close up. In addition I use a hand lamp for long distance if I need to see what is coming up. For that purpose I like my Sunwayman V20C. The feature of the light control ring is easily handled by one hand (rather than a switch) and those two lights together give you a feeling of daylight.

I also have a Black Diamond headlamp that I actually use more often. It has 3 (or 4?) AAA batteries and I can switch between flood and distance and it has a red light setting (for what it's worth). The strap (one band only) is however not as secure as the Zebralight which has 3.

I've got a couple coast headlamps. One w the built in charger. Small and bright. I like the big lever for adjusting the brightness.

A few years ago I bought the Remix Pro and it has been my main light now for hunting and camping. Before that I was using a Black Diamond Spot (seen in the background) but the Remix is way easier to cycle through the modes of which there aren't many and I like that; simpler is better for me.

Armytek Tiara A1. Puts out 370 max lumens on a single AA battery. Due to its TIR lens it has a better beam profile imo than a Zebralight which have much more flood than the Armytek does as I highly prefer for throw than flood on my headlamps.
