What's your headlamp of choice ?

Have everal Black Diamond Gizmos....light, durable, run cheap on AAA's. Use them mostly for small task close work or repairs where I need a bright, hands free light...looking for a water proof/resistant camping light.

Black Diamond Storm here, bright, well made, got it for a good price. Had Petzels in the past but I like the Black Diamond a little better.

I am currently using an Armytek wizard in the warm tint (4000k). Awesome runtimes (very long) using quality 18650 cells. Also functions well using primary cr123a cells.

I also have in my rotation some other headlamps, zebralight 51w & h52w. Armytek Tiara in warm, Fenix hl50. With these I use rechargeable nimh eneloop style LSD batteries for optimal output and run times with the exception of the zebralight h52 and Armytek Tiara which both can also use 14500 cells producing higher lumen outputs. The Fenix hl50 is a good Choice also. It's not that expensive and you have the option of using AA or cr123 a cells with the included adapter.

All the lights Mentioned above has a neutral or warm LED tint which gives you better color rendition and all are waterproof IPX8 or better.

Another thing to consider is if you want a throw or flood beam.

I also have a tactikka and love it too. Its a solid choice. I use rechargeable Panasonic eneloop LSD cells or disposable energizer lithium cells(ultimate of advanced). They don't leak and give you constant outputs and better runtimes than standard alkaline cells which seem to taper off quickly.

I own, use and love the Black Diamond Spot headlamp. I keep one in the kitchen for household usage, another one in my vehicle, and one more in my Man Sack. Street price is around $30. I feed mine with Eneloop rechargeables.

When it struck me just how dang useful a headlamp is, and that I no longer had to hold a flashlight between my teeth, it was an epiphany. "So that's why I have a forehead!".

I use a headlamp all the time, sometimes 5 times a week night fishing. The petzals i have used eventually leak. They do replace them.Lately I have been using a fenix single AA and a sure fire.I like the petzl for the flip red or green night filter, the surefire filter has to be snapped on.Fishing I wear the light around my neck.

I use a Petzl Tikkina, works great for me.
Love the flood beam profile, most of the time the low setting is bright enough, but like that theres a brighter setting available.
Clicky works good, you can set it in different positions, for lighting closeby or further away.

Runs looong on 3 AAA batteries.

The surefire head lamp is the easiest to operate. The push buttons on other lights are harder in freezing temps with gloves on.

We are off the grid-so headlamps get a LOT of use-and we use a lot of rechargeable AAA's. There has finally been some attrition, but of all things I got five or so super cheap ($10 max, if I remember correctly) Winchester headlamps and they lasted a long, long time under hard daily use. I was very (pleasantly) suprised.

I have a Led lenser H7. It Works OK (so far) as it is the model With thick electrical wiring.
My daughters Led Lenser broke after just a couple of times use (thin wire).
Not going to buy another Led Lenser.

Ok, maybe this doesn't belong here, but I didn't think starting another thread for this was adequate. I used my Sunwayman C22c but I finally lost it on my last trip.
Was wondering about my next headlamp and found one to my liking, the XTAR H3 Warboy, anybody has it or knows about it?
Any info would be appreciated because It'd be my most expensive headlamp so far and I am on the fence about getting it or not. Thanks guys!

We use an older fenix 2 aa version. It is great has 3 brightness settings, usually stay on the lower 2. Also has a red light that I have yet to use. Battery life seems very good and weight is not bad, stays in place and comfortable.

I have been using Fenix for the last 3 years and don't plan to change. I started with a single cr123 light that I forgot to take out of my work pants and it went through the washer and dryer. Still working to this day!!! I was sold and have yet to be disappointed with the 6 I have.

My favorite is the Streamlight Sidewinder Compact CR123 headlamp. It has a hinge for tilting, 4 intensity levels plus strobe, white and 3 colors, and is very lightweight. It's not the brightest I have but it is the most comfortable to use and packs small.

I'm using the Thrunite TH10 and really liking it. Very reasonably priced and great settings, user face and brightness. It takes an 18650 battery which works out well for me since that's mainly what use vaping. Great light for the money!

I agree. I've used Petzls and a Princeton Tec Apex Pro but have used a Surefire Minimus since they came out years ago. It does have the best user interface, a perfect field of light and it is very comfortable to wear for extended periods.

I'd love to try a nice floody model of Zebra Light though.

I have a Petzl Tactikka RGB as well, it's a great light. I usually only use it outdoors, for night fishing and such, the adjustable light levels are perfect for that. I also have a Fenix HL50 which I use for lighter duty tasks, at work, etc. The Petzl definitely has more range and better spread, so it's great for the outdoors, but it uses three AAA batteries so you gotta make sure to keep some extra batteries around if you're going to be using it for long. The Fenix uses one battery, it's simple, light, and can take both AA and CR123A, so it makes for a good backup.

I tried out my energiser one while camping , that wasn't too bad for use around a caravan park. Kinda saving the RGB for SHTF .
