I know, it aint no hand cannon, but for me, being able to have a much wider range of options inside the house was important.
Especially if I make a mistake at 3 am.

One of the "tricks" that I used to do was spanking an 8" plate 10/10 at 25 yards in two or three seconds with the MkIII. Miculek can do better but I'm no Miculek.

Is it just a .22? Yeah, but taking a mag's worth in the head wouldn't do anyone any good. It wasn't a SD thing...I just liked shooting the plates with a .22, and one hit doesn't always knock the steel down. I got good at repeatedly smacking a single one because it was necessary.

Some yokel blew the plates up with a centerfire rifle a ways back and they haven't been up since then, so I haven't done it for a while now. It was not particularly difficult at the time though. $30 of ammunition for a .22 LR buys a lot of familiarity.

It was a dark and stormy night. . . . . . ;) :p :D

First, I'd like to have a khuk that would mount like a bayonet to my Police Model "B" Hi Standard 12 ga.

I have also been robbed. Years ago. You feel raped and violated. The police told me that the feeling you get when being robbed, even when you never see the thieves, is just under the stress level women feel after being raped.

Insurance helps, but not completly.

I have updated my security system and thanks to a new law introduced by our current Georgia governor, I CAN SHOOT any SOB I find robbing my house or my person.

I no longer have to try to get away first. I no longer have to say, "I had my back to the wall and he was coming at me with a weapon and goodness gracious I had no choice but to have to shoot him."

I also have a five pound Moro executioner's axe / panabas.

Yeah, this is a touchy subject for me.

I have a Ruger 357 with spare ammo loaded in a Ruger 3" - 38sp.
I have an Al Massey leafblade close by (similar to a gladius, but with a more modern hilt), but there is also a wak in the room.
Surefire 6p and - oh, yeah - a 19" Chitlangi is near too.

I would not recommend using a 22 as a weapon of choice. I have known of too many cases where small caliber arms will do things like bounce off of bones in the skull, etc.

Yes, they will kill...but it may take some time.

Kamagong - how do you like the Kris Cutlery Gladius?

Spiraltwista ? I would imagine the halon acts in a manner that affects the assailants ability to breath ?

Does it fog or spray ?

Either way, it's a great idea.

Definetly non-lethal.... intent.

But having known enough people who have been raped, amongst both friends & at work. {including a male 280lb Prison officer.} Enables me to say Id choose robbed or burgled anyday. I bet you would as well Bill. ;)

Spiral

You got that right. unless it was Jamie Lee Curtis, Goldie Hawn, Claudia Black, Claudia Christian....... I'd struggle of course.

Thinking about getting robbed has put me in a peculiar mood today, so I'll add in a joke here that I normally would keep to myself.

A truck driver picks up a long haired kid hitchiker. The kid notices the trucker staring and says, "Can't figure out whether I'm a boy or a girl, can you?"

The trucker responded, "It don't matter, I am gonna f____k you either way."

Oops, just remmembered this is a family forum. Sorry about that. I am gonna go exercise and work this stuff out of my system. Been spending too much time in the "Whine and Cheese Forum" Rough characters there. Starting to rub off on me.

I still hate thieves, though.

For the first several months of living on my own it was my old 16.5" WWII. Now its the Sarge-made knife I bought a few months. My gun of choice is my Glock 22, when I actually have it loaded. :o

I like it a lot. It is as well made as my HIs and came with very sharp convex edges. I also have a tarwar, the one on the shopping site actually, but prefer the gladius because its pointy tip gives me more options indoors. The gladius is an older model, with a cross section that is circular. One of these days I'm going to take some sandpaper to it and make it more oval so that I can index the blade by feel alone.

To be quite honest this blade scares me. There's a lot of edge there and it's sharp. I wish I could get my khukuris this sharp. Still, I'm more likely to reach for my M43. I know how to use khukuris; I've never had any occassion to use the gladius and hence don't have any experience with it. It's deadly no doubt, but because of my inexperience it may be just as likely to cause harm to me as to any intruder.

While a Kumar "M43 / AK hybrid" has a place of honor in the dresser drawer, the old 45 auto is the nightstand gun, with a Winchester 12 guage pump in a hard to spot but immediately available "nook" about 4' from the bed. Call first before coming over....it's more safe :D

It was a 45 Auto until the Colt Delta Elite arrived.
the blade portion of the program is a rotating honorary shift. Don't think the blade is second fiddle. Sometimes it is what I reach for.

Trouble with trying to rob Spiral and the martial guys is you get more than you bargain for. Sort of a gyp for the assailent. Who would want to break into jurrasic's house, or Sarge's?

What percentage of robberies, muggings, etc, are not drug related, I wonder?

We need to store a microwave, toaster oven, and DVD/CD player near the front door so the punk druggers can grab a gram's worth of loot and take off. Invaders who penetrate further into the house reveal their motives are potentially worse and are shot, say at the dining room/ livingroom border. Keep this area covered in plastic to help with clean up.

I'm tickled to hear that Bob. Big old khukuris are awesome and intimidating, but if I find myself grappling with an assailant in a dark hallway, he's going to get a pretty bad "shanking" from a pointy little 6 inch blade that used to be a file. 'Course, that'll be after I give him a large dose of lead poisoning with my Makarov. Just put your point in right under the sternum, and angled up a bit, shove it deep, and "go through the gears", I guarantee he'll stop twitching directly. ;)

15" AK or 16.5 AK villager. One or the other will be downstairs in the basement when I am engraving at night, in case someone gets between me and the upstairs.

20 gauge Ithaca with "Buck and ball" is the gun of choice right now. When we move to the country again in a few months,(a new rental), the 30-30 comes back into service.

Handgun permit hopefully coming soon. Then I join up with Sarge and the Makarov contingent again. Or a sig 239, if I can get the funds together.

For cave trolls, balrogs and such, there is always the two hander 25" sirupati.

That's why I hang out here. Guys like you. Practical information. Thanks Sarge. I think I have the perfect object to accomplish that. Which you made. :=)

Colt .45 gold cup and bura bgrs. lithe and martial in the hand, as well as one hell of a chopper.

Come the revolution, perhaps I will get to accessorize officer friendly's sternum with it, who knows.
