What's your opinion of auto's?

I like Auto's, but don't think they have any real advantage other than being a nice novelty that's "neet" to play with. Most of the quality auto's I've had, Boker, Microtech, Etc... I never worried about mechanical failure, but as with anything mechanical, it's possible. They are illegal to carry where I live, so I'll never use one for EDC, because it's just not worth the risk. I know any auto I buy will be a drawer queen, before I ever buy it, but still I wouldn't take for my L-UDT. Somday, I'd even like an UltraTech.

Since I live in Arizona I carry and use as an EDC several autos. But as an example I've owned both the m/a and auto version of the Vector and found that I could open the m/a faster than I could the auto. So is there a real advantage to an auto...probably not.

Looks like my sentiments are echoed by many who have replied. I want just one good quality double action OTF to play with. But they are, apparently, illegal for me to own in Australia. Apart from owning a beautiful piece of art (mechanically speaking), I can't find a good reason to have an auto over a manual.

BTW, I thought there was a good double action OTF auto from MicroTech called the Ultima or something. I haven't been in the forums for a while, so I don't know if there has been a review of that.
