What's Your opinion of Mosaic Abalone for...

a custom folder. Just curious of your opinions about the stuff...also known as laminated abalone. I'm wanting some small knives made with abalone, but so far no luck on the real stuff.

The are the company that supply most of the shell materials to the cutlery industry.

The ladder pattern laminated abalone is quite attractive, and fairly expensive.

That is the only pattern that I would be interested in, I do not know if it is still offered by them.

I have never really cared for abalone shell for knife handles. I don't know why, but it has always looked like Celluloid to me.
