what's your opinion on this?

From what I am reading in the product description, this is not a copy of the Warren Thomas EDA. It is the actual thing.

The Warren Thomas designed EDA (Every Day Axe) is a novel folding ax from Combat Ready Knives.

Now, is it useful? Not in my humble opinion. I cannot think of anything I would dare use that for. I'd be embarrassed to even take that out of my pocket.

Combat ready? For that price i will use my kukri or kobun as a combat knife. I honestly dont know what i could use that for...

The flat might work as a hammer for small brads, but then the flat of anything would work for that purpose...

a folding knife generally takes almost half of its entire length away to fit nicely in your pocket or bag. a very reasonable pro for the small amount weaker it becomes.

a folding ax is exactly the same damn length, whether folded or not. then take into account its sole job is to hit things with some force, and you realize making it pivot is a huge reliability issue.

what's the point? it makes no damn sense.

Listen, guys...if you have the page open in a quiet room, and listen real close, you can hear it whispering "Kill me..."

I saw this this and had many of the thoughts already shared. However, I could see it being a half-decent tool for harvesting small stalked resources...tobacco, rhubarb (looks like old "tobacco knives" to this Kentuckian)...without having a bulkier hatchet/sheath to tote around. I could see a rotating "gear lock" making the design much more sturdy and safe...I have to believe a frame lock will eventually, if not quickly, fail with repeated impact.

Self defense...pfft. Try opening that silly thing quickly. Might as well have a Maglight.

I don't know why it would be a total waste of money. Like most knives on the market, this is nothing more than another man-bauble. At least it isn't priced ridiculously.
