Whats Your Plan for 09???

My plans.
13 inch blade hardcore bowie from one of local knifemaker.
13 inch CRKT new "hissatsu".
I'll expand my a Spyderco 440V collection(chinook I is a good start).
I'm gonna scan ebay for opportunity to drag some fine knives from US to Poland.

2 Cold steel trailhawks or Vietnam Hawsk - just for fun.

Well I seem to be undergoing a tactical to slip-joint revolution. ....This year will be a transition to the knives of our fathers and grandfathers.

...

I've got a Tidioute Wharncliffe barlow on the way already. With Northern Lights handle and carbon blades.

You will not be sorry
A great transition knife from tactical to slippies
It is a very trad knife that has a very modern look with the acrylic handles

This year I'll be focusing on Kershaw and Spyderco and ignoring Benchmade as I'm happy with my current BM collection.

From Kershaw, I'd like to get a Tyrade and RAM. I probably will actually get those.

From Spyderco I'll probably get a Phoenix. The Szabofly, Sage, Para (a 2nd one) and Khuk are all up in the air as possibilities too.

I'm putting minor thought behind the Bradley Mayhem as a possibility.

I may pick up a custom. Not sure from who. I'm pretty open minded with customs.

Probably sell my Avalanche. Terrific knife, but I just don't have a place for it in my collection.

Probably a couple of small fixed blades. I've taken a liking to wharncliffes, and had a couple of ArcLites that I wish I hadn't sold, so maybe I'll see if DDR will make me a wharny ArcLite with G-10 scales.

I have a light list, so far, for 2009. I want a Strider PT and a Buck/Mayo Waimea. As luck would have it I scored the PT last night, so that leaves the Waimea. I have a few knives to offer in trade, but I haven't seen a Waimea show up in the classifieds very often, so this one may take awhile. So other than than waiting for a Waimea, I'm very happy the direction my small collection has gone in 2008, and will enjoy what I have....at least for the time being;)

I'm going to get a non SAK slip joint. Everytime I look at something like a Case peanut my mind says that a SAK is more useful for the money.

I have a couple of things on order, that will be ready on '09. I am hoping that my Locsha will be here in '09. I have a matching Bowie & Hunter from Karl B.Andersen, that I am wicked excited about. I think my Burke POA will be here in '09. Oh yeah, I am hoping for a Strider PT CC, with the dog paws, and a small Sebbie 21, with the dog paws as well. These are all orders; who knows what else. OH! I wish to get more of Mike Alsdorf's knives.

My plans are usually very flexible. There are always nice surprises in our life (e-bay, knife shows), I just need to be patient. But I have a few must buy, which include Spyderco:
three Kopas (Giraffe Bone, CF, and squash bone) and Native4.

Already got a Queen City Classic Canoe in 1095
Eyeballin' the Queen Gunstock in Amber Stag w/ D2.

I probably won't be buying any tacticals though. I think I'm done with that.

roughly in order:

BM Griptian, full size, hole opener preferrably.
Kershaw Blur: Why don't I have one of these yet?
Spyderco Sage 2 TiRIL: oh yes.
RAT Azula: I do like my neck knives, and these are neat.

I think that's about all I have planned out at this point.

Ideally, I'd like to score 700 new knives this year and bring the Accumulation up to a nice round 1000. Realistically, I'm starting a new job that doesn't pay nearly as much as the old job, and I'd he hard-pressed to name 700 knives that I really wanted. ;)

But here's a short list of what I'll be watching for if extra funds become available:

Buck phenolic fixed blades - woodsman, pathfinder, general.
Any vintage Bruckmann knives on eBay that aren't duplicates.
Fill in gaps within the Old Timer Collection.
Customs advertised in the For Sale by Maker forum section.
Traditional pocketknives from the new companies: Great Eastern, Amherst Cutlery
A few more Scandinavian hunting knives

For this year:

- Lone Wolf Harsey Tactical folder and/or
- Cold Steel American Lawman, or a Recon I
- A smaller Kershaw, like a Chive or a Blur

That's about it; let's see what else comes along.

Cheers, and best wishes to you all !

Grails- Ed Fowler Pronghorn, Scott Cook Lochsa (preferably in something other than S30V)
Along the way- Some old USA made Old Timers, maybe a Buck or two, plus ???

Only two days into the new year & I have two coming from Knifeworks:D

#1.Benchmade 710M4
#2.Bradley Alias 1

It'll be quite some time before I buy any more.I'll probably pick up that new Spyderco Sage(S30V+Ti-framelock)this spring.

Well I got one of my 09 knives already. The hard one too, The Cold Steel Trapper w/Carbon V...:D Now I think I'm going to work on that Extream Ratio Fulcrum.
