What's your price ceiling for a production folder?

After a few experiment with some production knives that were in the 100+ euros, I consider my ceiling to be at 100 euros +/- 20%. Over such price, I don't feel comfortable using the knife, exception made for a few fixed blades that I know are going to widthstand hard use, and I prefer to buy a custom that I will be proud to have in my collection.
Most of the knives I use are folders, because that's what you can carry in France if you are careful not to make it obvious. So I prefer my knives to be simple to use and carry so I don't feel lost if something happens to it. To give an idea of my favorite standards, the knives I carry the most are a Spyderco Native (CPM440V/CE/FRN) and a Camillus CUDA EDC (154CM/PE/SS) , although I always carry a Douk-Douk as well ;)

That really depends on what you define as production. If production includes Chris Reeve, Wm. Henry, etc., then about $500.

I've got a BM 921 coming my way, and even with the deal I got it still comes out as my most expensive production model at 120usd. Only paid 100usd for my spydie military. My tops so far is the 280cad LHK custom skean dhu.

Gonna either be buying cheap knives, or buying 1 or 2 a year now for the next few while I pay off a car though. Guess I'll be making those infrequent purchases worth it and saving.

I don't do 'safe queens' so I insist on carrying and using all my folders. I only own about a half dozen higher end production knives and the thought of losing them bothers me enough that I have set a $100 limit for myself for users. ($100 Canuck, that's about 75 US). In fact today I'm carrying a $25 slippie, go figure. :)

The $350 I spent on my Strider AR is worth every penny. It is damn near indestructible! I would have to say that I don't have a ceiling, but for now $300-400 would be tops. My EDC is my $180 Emerson CQC8.

Between $300-$450 for a nice production piece like a CK&T or hand ground Microtech. Anymore than that and its gotta be a custom

The excellent quality of a custom Mike Obanouf starts to muddy the waters in this discussion, at around $325.00 - $350.00. Once you go past a certain price, you can go from production to custom.

Same as Easyrider, until my new AFCK wears out. That limit also applies to custom folders :( . But the old liner lock AFCK lasted years. I guess I might go up to $10 for the right knife.

It used to be $200.00. Then my greed took me to $500.00. Seems like customs and productions have pretty much blended! I've seen some pretty bad grind lines in customs & some wannabes in productions within this price range. Does $1000.00 get you more? Nope. Been there & done that! Exceptions such as Benchmade, Kershaw & Lightfoot do exist. I think that the makers are going to price themselves out of the market! $2000.00 if that bitch hums! Sorry, but it ain't gonna happen.... greed. Just like me.... I want more for less. :)
