What's your workout and why?

Crossfit 3 times a week. In my opinion it is the most effective exercises for all group of muscles.

I rarely touch free weights or machines and I have access to a gym, body weight exercises only. Pushups, pull-ups and squats are basically it. Dips are good too but I have a bad shoulder and those aggravate it too much and too easily. When I see the amount of money some spend on trainers, gyms, and equipment it just seems like such a waste especially when all you need is gravity and a little motivation to get in shape.

Crossfit is generally considered to be some of the worst exercises and programs. It's more like a cult of stupidity. Be careful getting into that.

"Some" of the exercises/programs that I seen used at "some" Crossfit gyms and and at the Crossfit Games" just seem designed to cause injury but I wouldn't say that Crossfit exercises/programs are "generally considered to be some of the worst."

Concept 2 Rowers are always found in fully equpped Crossfit gyms.

Rowing is, in fact, "generally considered" one of best exercises that you can do for a full body aerobic workout and it currently is my primary form of exercise.

I also have (but have not recently used) other types of gear commonly found at Crossfit gums, including (in my garage) a full Olympic weight lifting setup and (in my backyard) a weighted sled, battle ropes and a 200# tractor tire and several sledge hammers (to pound the tire w/when I'm not flipping it).

You can get an excellent workout using these things, if/when they are used "properly."

The equipment doesn't make Crossfit ridiculous its the way they use it makes it ridiculous.

I even watched a Crossfit "guru" bragging from his hospital bed about getting rabdo where your muscles liquify - he saw it as a badge of honour.

If it wasn't clear, that was my "point" as well.

Headstand pushups have been added to my list, since there is a convenient wall in my new apartment where I can do them without falling on my cat.

I would absolutely love to be able to buy motivation.

Can't do handstand pushups. Rotator cuff surgeries in BOTH shoulders and a bad right elbow.

The bad elbow stopped me from doing any more pushups and normal pullups and simple lifts like curls and OHP. Besides when I tried doing handstand pushups before these problems arose, I'd get headaches from the rush of blood to my head BUT more power to ya!

It's even more impressive watching people who can walk on their hands. Can you do that? Post a video if you can. Would love to see it. :)

False motivation beats no motivation!

I am in the gym or on the trail five days a week, three days of moderate whole-body weightlifting plus a one-mile fast run with two days of dedicated cardio that is a four-mile outdoor run. If I'm training for a race I will do a long run Saturday as well depending on the race distance.

I did recently hit my peak fitness level at 35, which is admittedly not hugely impressive given that much of my life was spent overweight and sedentary, but I am able to do at least one dead-hang pullup again for only the second time in my life, which is a big milestone for me. Going to work on improving those, and I'd love to be able to do ten or even twenty.

To be more accurate, I am working a HeSPU progression. I have three rubber coated 10 lb plates stacked under my head because I don't have starting strength out of the hole yet. I started with 4. As I get stronger, I hope to remove all the plates, and then add platforms to my hands so I am increasing ROM. I'll be letting my elbows decide how much is enough.

Not quite there yet!

I recently bought an inversion table. I hang upside down from that and do sit ups. It's a great work out for my back and stomach.

My arms are just to weak to do much and I too have had rotator cuff surgery. It did little good...

We bought an ebike last week and I put 31 miles on it the last 6 days. I am really trying to get more strength in my hips and knees and maintain good blood sugar. I love being outside more, too.

Hope it has some kind of safety mechanism. I heard people have used them alone at home and died hanging upside down because they could not get out of it.
